Whats the purpose of jatbar?
Give honest opinions on our restaurant experiences. We're here to share those hidden jewels lost among restaurant chains. We are not a fake restaurant directory, we eat at every restaurant listed on jatbar. What can we say, we're nerds and have this evergrowing food diary on the web.
How come you hide your identities?
We don't want restaurant owners to treat us any differently than normal customers
Back to top
Are you food critics by profession?
Nope, far from it, we're just normal people who love to eat. We have no formal training in restaurant review etiquette, we don't have degrees from culinary or journalism schools. We'll leave that stuff for the pros. Both Terry and I work for the same computer company in Silicon Valley. We did a couple of years at Microsoft, then moved on to greener pastures.

How do I become an agent?
Thanks for taking interest in becoming an agent but we are no longer accepting applications right now. We may open them up during Spring 2007. If you're serious about writing reviews, post on the jatboard reviews only section or post a quickie. If you impress us, you'll probably hear from us.

How come you dont post the restaurant hours?
Restaurants have the strangest hours of operation, especially Japanese restaurants. It's a pain to enter hours in the database. Your best bet is to give them a call or view the menu.

How can you judge a restaurant just by 1 visit?
It's a tough call but your first impression is usually a lasting one. If we had the time and money, we would like to visit places at least 2 times. Our reviews are simply short descriptions of what we saw and tasted. We hope our pictures and words can only help you in making your decision and not be a final judgement. They are merely opinions.

You can expect emails once every couple of months letting you know what changes we have made to the site and upcoming events. We will NEVER ask you for your password or personal information.
Can I use your pictures and reviews for my site?
We work hard to deliver quality images for every restaurant. If you use our images, let people know where you got it. Do not remove the jatbar watermark. And please, do not image link us, we have to pay for the bandwidth.

I hate your rating system, I hate your site.
It happens. We're not forcing you to read the site, you found us. When you're done figuring out why you hate the site, go build your own review site, do restaurant reviews for a couple of months, and let us know how it works out. We'd be willing to bet, you'll quit after the 2nd month and realize it's a lot of work. Suck it....
