oh Berkeley, how I miss thee. I don't get to visit Berkeley as much as I would like but tonight I was attending Radiohead at the Greek. Yes, it was an awesome show, I'd give a jatbar 9 for the setlist selection and lighting. I could write more paragraphs but let's not steal the thunder from La Burrita.

I was told this was one of the frequented late night Berkeley spots so what a better way to try it out after 11PM. I was pretty bummed to see a long line out the door but it moved fast. By the time I got in, I placed my order for a small carne asada burrito with everything on it.

I suspect La Burrita has broken the world record for the cashier to burrito in hand record. It was soo damm fast that you are competing with McDonalds delivery times. I had burrito in hand in about 80 seconds. No joke.

Wrapped in foil with no where to sit in the taqueria shop, I took it back to my car. In my small burrito bag was a scoop of tasty chips but I forgot the salsa! I took 3 giant bites and re-wrapped my burrito for the trip home. Hmm..this is one odd tasting burrito???

I took the standard jatbar photos and after looking closely at my burrito, the guys who served me sooooo fast built my burrito with little precision. I had my 1st Pollo Asado and Carne Asade burrito. 2 different meats conjoined by hand.

tortilla - ahh..the steamer, but for tonight's showing, I look the other way. it was very good

beans - pinto beans and it was good

rice - wet and had more seasoning than the norm, it might have been because of the salsa mix inside. very moist.

toppings - I know and b*tch and moan about putting sour cream in a burrito but the person who suggested La Burrita specifically told me to get 'everything'. I hate to say it, but I like tonight's sour cream mixture with the cheese, guac, beans, rice, and meats was flippin good.

meats - they must have been in a hurry because they put chicken and steak in my burrito. It wasn't bad but I would have preferred to have a carne asada burrito. from what I could decipher, the asade was steel grill cooked as opposed to open fire. Seasoning was on the light side but heavy on the black pepper. I couldn't tell how the chicken was cooked but it was mostly breast meat.

A small carne asada burrito with everything will run you $4.54 and must be a godsend for starving students. I gotta give bonus points for late night hours. La Burrita is open until 11PM Sun-Thu and 130AM Fri-Sat. I think I experienced La Burrita in the prime time hours and overall rates inbetween an 8 and 8.5. Sure they messed up on my burrito but when you get super service, cheap burritos, late night hours, interesting 2 meat burrito, and sour cream voltron topping mix, I can only think of happy thoughts. Hell, if I would have been drunk while eating La Burrita, I can see myself giving these guys an 11.
