We pulled Oscars Hot Dogs out on a search engine and had no idea it was going to be the real deal. Things were looking good when I spotted the flame grill going off. Tempted in ordering a burger, I made the wrong decision and went with a hot dog.

hot dog - I had high hopes considering the fire was raging over the grill. The sign boasts 1/4lb hot dog and I prefer the skinny dogs with a snap. My 1st bite was near awful. For something that was camping over fire, it was almost cold in the center. The dog had no snap and the temperature was a taste blocker for me. I took 2 more bites and threw the rest away.

fries - best part of the meal. Great stuff and no complaints here.

I think I ordered the wrong thing at Oscars. I should've got a burger and makes it tough for me to make a return visit with Barneys and Christopher's burger within driving distance.

Oscars was smack dab in the middle of our Berkeley food run and I was anxious to try a Berkeley hot dog and see how it matches up against my favorite Bay Area dogs at Kaspers.

I must say I am sadly disappointed. The dog had little snap, and the bun was not moist at all. It all tasted like something I could have made in my backyard on the barbecue. It wasn't bad, and if I was in a fastfood mcdonalds mood, it would be a good alternative, but there wasn't much gourmet or superiority to this dog. It was just a regular hot dog. I also tried a vanilla shake. It was a bit runny which made it easy to drink, but just your basic Dairy Queen type of stuff. Nothing too fancy. I won't be returning most likely.
