Pie in the Sky was my 2nd stop on my Berkeley slice pizza trip. 1st time visit and cant believe I landed parking closeby. Its a godsend considering the horrendous parking situation around here. I arrived around 2ish and there were quite a few people already eating here. This place is kinda girly with the pink pastel paint but its a lot cleaner than the other pizza places Ive been too.

The menu has a number of gourmet pizza options, coffee, and pastries. Since I was here for pizza, I ordered the Sky Pie and Pepperoni.

My first slice was the Sky Pie which is topped off with; feta, mozzarella, walnuts, eggplant, spinach, and tomatoes. All the toppings were extremeley fresh and I was surprised the combination tasted this good. The crust was a bit more unique as it appeared to have whole wheat. Dough was completely cooked and passed the firm crust test (hold it up and it doesnt flop over). The Sky Pie slice is a definite order for your visit.

Next up was the pepperoni slice. It was looking like a real new york slice, thin slice, not too much cheese, and good ratio between the cheese, sauce, and crust. I picked up the slice and it flopped right over. I turned it over and noticed that parts of my crust were uncooked, pure sadness. The sauce was awesome and cheese was just right. Pepperonis had loads of grease but it comes with the territory. If you're worried about the grease, you can do the honors with a napkin. Other than the crust being partly undercooked, I managed to enjoy the cooked areas thoroughly.

Of the 2 slices, Sky Pie was the definite winner. If the pepperoni would have been fully cooked, I would have given Pie in the Sky a 9. If I had to choose between Arinell and Pie in the Sky. Id go to Arinell for a slice of cheese or pepperoni. If I wanted gourmet style, Pie in the Sky all the way.

Cheese Slice

Second favorite in the bay area (Giovanni's first for slices). Great sauce, friendly service. Not quite NY style, but I like the variation. Deserves the 8.5 rating.
