I was set to cook tonight but got the jatbar itch to try the new cheese steak shop nearby my place. Im surprised Burlingame Cafe closed, they had fine burgers. The good news Phillys Cheese Steak Shop is an excellent replacement. Judging from the furniture and decorations, Im starting to wonder if Burlingame Cafe sold everything as a package deal or refocused on a new cuisine?

The menu has a number of selections with the main draws being chicken sandwiches, hot links, and cheese steaks. I went with the 10' cheese steak with grilled onions at about $6. Not too bad, I skipped the fries for this visit but will be back for sure.

The steak is sliced paper thin and thown onto the steel grill. From there its chopped up, mixed with onions, and seasoned lightly. Meat is scooped into a soft french roll with a slice of white cheddar. I like my cheese steaks with some mustard and thats about it. My 1st bite was pure delight. The melted cheese was a perfect compliment to the grilled onions and finely chopped steak. The bread tasted sooo damm good I think its almost better than the steak. Steak had little fat but could have used more meat in the sandwich. For an extra $2, you get extra meat.

Phillys Cheese Steak Shop does a great job with their cheese steaks and can easily compete with the other famous steak shops in the Bay Area. Prices are inline with other shops but the others load up their sandwiches with more meat. I realize steak is expensive but what about charging an extra $1 for the sandwich and loading up on the meat? Either way, I can see myself making return visits for those cheese steak urges.

Plain Philly Cheesesteak Combo

It was good, bread was toasted which made it a good different. I also had jalapeno's on it, along with some A1 sauce. My only complaint is that they skimp on the meat, other than that, it was quite satisfying. They need to start making milk shake
