Im not much of a morning person but when I can get up early enough, Stacks is one of my 1st choices for breakfast. With 4 locations in the Bay Area, I went to the one down the street from my apartment in Burlingame. I normally have bad luck trying to beat the morning rush but today was the exception. With a short 5 minute wait, we were in business. Normally when its busy, you can expect to wait 15-30 minutes to grab a table (complementary coffee is offered at your convience).

This would be my 3rd visit with my 2 previous visits being superb. With that being said, lets run through my order

Pancakes - I shared the plain short stack pancakes today and couldnt have been happier. The pancakes were extra fluffy, butter melting over the top, and laid a thin layer of maple syrup. hhhmmm...so damm good. Every breakfast should come with pancakes

Eggs - scrambled, nothing out of the ordinary. The best thing about it was the lack of grease. Thank you.

Chicken Apple Sausage - yikes...this should come with any breakfast order..excellent stuff.

Potatoes - semi-graded potatoes with some seasoning. Not too greasy yet lacking a little seasonings. It would have tasted much better with some garlic, black peppers, and more salt. I ended up putting Tabasco sauce to flavor it up.

You might be wondering why I didnt give Stacks a 9 or higher? I think their food is great and everything but prices are a little high for what your ordering. A breakfast meal with pancakes will run you about $12-15...kind steep dont you think? They should have a preset breakfast meal (eggs, potatoes, bacon or sausage) that comes with pancakes instead of looking all over for it and trying to build it.

I am definitely not a morning person, but if I happen to be up at 7am, this is the FIRST and only choice for a great breakfast! The selection is fantastic and the service is quick and friendly. The wait is just too long if you get there anytime between 8 and 1pm, but anytime before or
after that, it's totally acceptable. I prefer the Burlingame restaurant but there's also Redwood City too.

One of my favorite breakfast spots. This is for the Menlo Park location.

Dropped by for brunch earlier this week.

We were almost immediatly seated, there were only 2 of us but they had no problem seating us in a booth for maybe 6? There were 5 place settings on the table. Water was poured before I noticed and coffee offered immediatly.

I had trouble figuring out what to order and finally settled on the special, the San Francisco Scramble at the last minute.

While we waited for our orders I realized the coffee was actually GOOD. I have come to expect most coffees coming out of a plastic carafe to be a bit sour and bitter, however I had no problem drinking this black.

Our scrambles arrived and the San Francisco Scramble turns out to be Eggs with bits of sausage and spinich. Sounds a bit awkward but very delicious. Complimenting the scramble was a side of shaved hash and a butter bagel.

I have nothing but raves for this place. In fact, we're planning to return this weekend. Well...actually the Los Gatos location as that's a bit closer.

Mommy ate...

banana/walnut pancakes with wheat germ

Yummo! And so big, 1 pancake is enough for anyone. Put your name in and then go to the farmer's market for a half hour and your table will be all set.
