For many fans of the often packed Tacos Mexico, a short drive over to Campbell's Ricos Tacos will enjoy a larger seating area with the same great tasting tacos. Both restaurants are related in some way as the business card displays the both locations and the menus offer identical items. I knew exactly what I was getting myself into and was excited to be reunited with the dueling tortillas filled with fresh ingredients.

I've been to Tacos Mexico 3 times and never had a bad experience with tacos. Not wanting to stray from a perfectly good thing, I ordered 2 super tacos (fuzzy memory says about $2.50 for a taco). One was carne asada and the other was carnitas. When you make your visit, be sure to grab both salsas out of the drink cooler. There's a smokey flavored red and mild green. I prefer using the green salsa on pork and chicken.

One of the big tests today was seeing how the grill the inside tortilla. I was hoping to see a more deep fried one like I've had at Tacos Mexico but today's tortillas was greasy. Take a look at picture 5 for it's shining glory. They need to be more browned but oh fricken well.

Super tacos come with cheese, pinto beans, slice of avocado, and pico de gallo. Everything was on the verge of being a 9 but I ran into 1 problem, the meat. The carne asada was seasoned well and it tasted great and everything but it was served just warm. If they would have served it hot enough to completely melt the cheese, higher score for sure.

The carnitas is more of the stewed type. Not crunchy but very enjoyable nonetheless. Juicy and if you don't eat fast enough the tortilla was break. I tried both the red and the green and personally think the green tasted 2x better.

The tacos at Ricos Tacos are great and on the verge of being my South Bay favorite. I think the ones at Tacos Mexico edge out slightly because of the extra grilling on the inner tortilla and tacos being served hot temperature wise. These tacos at both locations are different than what you're accustomed to getting at taco trucks and other taquerias. For starters, these are much larger, served with a slice of avocado, extra grilling on inside tortilla, and pinto beans. No lettuce, no sour cream are super points in my book.

Rico Tacos also serves tostadas, tortas, burritos, and quesadillas but you'll have to do some serious convincing to get me off of their addicting super tacos.

Ricos Tacos is within the same plaza at the studio I dance at. I rolled in around 7pm and just barely beat the crowd. Plenty of seatings and the place is reasonably clean. I ordered three regular tacos at 1.89 each a can of soda for $1. My total ringed up barely over $6.

I waited around five or so minutes and the tacos were brought to the table. The carnitas was the stewed version but great regardless, mixed in with some red sauce, salsa, and pinto beans. The steak was charred and was less enjoyable out of the three tacos but still one of the better steak tacos I’ve had for a reasonable price. The pollo taco contained a stewed version of the shredded chicken, red sauce, and pinto style beans. I don’t recall ever having a regular soft taco with pinto beans before and it’s quite good, adds a nice texture and flavour.

Will be back to try their burritos which seems like a popular hit with the customers.

Super Taco

Great stuff! Wouldn't order anything else but this. I tried their other options but didn't like them. Reg or Super is the way to go. Carnitas or Chicken.
