Thanks to Matthew and Sean for submitting Twist Cafe in Campbell. I've been hearing about this restaurant for over 2 months and finally made the lunch visit. We arrived at noon with lunch rush in full effect. The outdoor patio was completely filled with the indoor seating nearly to max capacity. Ordering is done at the register and while the line might looks long, it moves quite fast. Be sure to check out the daily menu and specials.

The restaurant serves American food with French influences. You'll see a tri-tip sandwich on the menu but this one is served on focaccia bread with Harissa mayonnaise, uniquely marinated beef, and braised onions. Not hungry for sandwiches, then go for one of their custom crepes. You can design a dessert crepe or even build the gourmet one with cheese and Bechamel sauce (white cream) mixed with various grilled veggies and meat. All these great menu items and I'm completely torn on what to order. I eventually went with the daily special Rotisserie Chicken and Newcastle Brown Ale off tap. Orders are brought to the table and I guesstimate our lunches took 15 minutes to reach us.

The rotisserie chicken meal is a more than adequate serving. The 1/2 chicken has this excellent red wine mushroom-bacon sauce. Red wine mushroom combo is a traditional sauce found in just about any restaurant. The secret ingredient that sets Twist Cafe above the others is the BACON. Oh man, the smokiness of the pork mixed with sauce elevates to the next level. The chicken was juicy and outer skin crispy. Served with roasted potatoes and a generous helping of firm vegetables. I can't believe I'm having this for lunch and it's only $10! This meal belongs on a dinner menu and could easily fetch $15 on any given night. For portion size (which by the way is enough for 2 sittings) and wonderful flavors, I'd say this is easily a 9 by far.

I don't have any real complaints about Twist Cafe other than the tons of people eating there. Noise level is slightly louder than average and is expected considering how crazy busy they are.

For tax, tip, and whatever, I think I spent $18. I know it's twice as expensive as normal lunches but, trust me on this one, the food they serve here is exceptional. It's not our typical jatbar hole in the wall type of joint but a gourmet restaurant in a comfortable atmosphere. Campbell is lucky to have a wonderful restaurant like Twist Cafe. Restaurants like this belong in Berkeley and San Francisco. One of the best meals I've had in the last 2 months....no joke.

Closed on Mondays. There's dinner service next door at Twist Bistro, same owners, and most likely, same delicious food.

moules-frites (mussels in a wine/garlic sauce, served with french fries) special - not always available. Yum, yum, YUM. This place ROCKS. Maybe a bit on the pricey side for lunch but OH, so delicious.
