We stopped at Bobbi's Coffee Shop to pick up some breakfast and sandwiches. One day I'll break the habit of ordering club sandwiches or breakfast stuff at diners but they always seen to know how to cook those items for cheap.

This place belongs in the 70's, I doubt much has changed in the last 30 years. It even smelled like something I might have eaten in the 70's too or my grandmothers house. Call it a mix of dust and heavy grease in the air? I browsed the specials on the whiteboard and nothing seemed to appeal to me today so I went with my infamous club sandwich on wheat.

bread - nothing gourmet, probably orowheat which is fine by me. Lightly toasted, 3 slices of bread with a coat of mayo.

cheese - swiss and cheddar, Cheddar on top of ham, while swiss topped off the turkey, its a textbook club sandwich.

veggies - green leaf lettuce and tomatoes, tasted fresh to me, no complaints here.

meats - bacon was plenty and chopped up. ham was salty, i doubt its deli cut, it had turkey on it but dont recall tasting too much of it. I think the thickness of the swiss overwhelmed it.

Overall, Bobbi's Coffee Shop served a good club sandwich but I thought it was a tad on the salty side. I dont know if it was the cheddar cheese or the ham but something didnt taste quite right. Its hard to put my finger on it but the sandwich is definitely something I would try again. Its not the best club Ive had but it did the job. The service was respectable and prices were fair. Im certain breakfast is the thing to order here as the menu was dominated by omelets, pancakes, and other fine breakfast combos. If Bobbi's Coffee Shop was down the street from my house, I'd probably visit it more often.

RETURN VISIT for Jason! 12/8/2006 - 8 Rating: Went for a causal lunch with the guys at work. I had the grilled chicken sandwich and vegetable soup. Soup was mediocre but grilled chicken sandwich made me happy. I have no doubts I will be making a return visit as the food was comfty. Everyone else enjoyed their and even surprised I scored 7.5 on my last visit.

Bobbis Coffee Shop is cash only but they do have an ATM machine next to the front door.

There are some times when you are in the mood for a breakfast at lunchtime. And this day was one of those days for me. I was looking for a big greasy omelette that would stick to my ribs and keep me going through the rest of the day.

Bobbis has been around forever. It has that smell like any old kitchen that has been frying up thousands upon thousands of meals over the decades. It was a very homey, welcoming smell. The place, though, was very clean. Quite a contrast to the normal diner you would see around the Bay Area thats still chugging along.

Service was not the best, but was attentive enough for us on this day. And food delivery was lightning quick which I really liked.

I went with the vegetable omelette with cheese. It came with toast and hash browns. The hash browns supplied were a cut above the standard grease pit, but they didn't give an overly large amount - like at say Country Way. But it tasted healthier. The toast was absolutely SMOTHERED in butter. I don't think I've had this much butter on toast since I was a kid and globbing it on myself. haha.

The omelette was filled with a variety of fresh vegetables and while it was fresh tasting, it wasn't the best I've had. I would classify it as just okay. I would probably order something else next time.

Overall, the meal filled me up, it wasn't outrageously expensive, and it was clean. All good signs in my book. I will return, most likely to try the pancakes or non-breakfast items and will post an updated review then.
