San Diego mexican food brought to Bay Area

My photo gallery 		Casa Lopez Mexican Food hails from burritoland known as San Diego. This is the 2nd time I've spotted San Diego menu items up in the bay area. Famous items include Carne Asada fries, California burrito, rolled tacos, and Machaca. Sean and I paid a visit for lunch and sampled some of the items listed above.

Sean ordered the deadliest item known as Carne Asada fries. Imagine a heart stopping plate of fries topped off with carne asada and cheese. I don't know what kind of cheese they used but it did not coagulate. It was like nacho cheese texture without the nacho flavor. I didn't enjoy this dish as the carne asada was too bland for my taste. The fries were undercooked too.

For the main course, I ordered the California burrito. I find it funny that most people in the bay area have no idea what this fabled burrito is all about. You take a regular burrito add french fries, sour cream, cheese, and carne asada. The best part about this burrito is if you can get it fresh enough, the fries are still crunchy.

tortilla - nothing like San Diego, it's standard issue bay area stuff. Should have been put on the grill longer, tortilla was white as a ghost and had little to no grilling.

french fries - soggy and I don't think they were fully cooked.

carne asada - same meat from the fries, very bland, needs more seasoning and more fat in the meat, meat servings were minimal, take a look at the picture.

Their chips and salsa are awesome. The family the runs the place are super friendly and really hope this place picks up speed. The location is kinda hidden off into an old forgotten strip mall. Look for the 24HR Family Fitness off Fremont Ave.

I'd like to give Casa Lopez Mexican Food an 8.5 for effort but a 6.5 for the overall taste. I'm making another visit so my bloated score of 7 is just a temporary placeholder. My next visit, I'm getting rolled tacos and Machaca.
