Deli sandwiches and a great selection of alcohol

I needed to do a quick lunch and brought Drew with me to Coach House Liquors and Deli on South De Anza. Neither of us have been and I noticed it last week on my visit to Los Dos Compadres. It's not exactly a restaurant but a liquor store with a deli section. There are tables outside and plenty of parking.

The way it works is, on the counter is a steel tray with a stack of white menus. Pickup a menu and pen, mark your sandwich and place the order face down in the tray. The sign says, if the order isn't in the tray, your sandwich won't be made. As you wait for your sandwich, go roam the aisles for booze. They have a good selection of alcohol. Drew found Pinch blended Scotch and snatched a bottle that rivaled an online price.

After a short wait, my club sandwich on wheat was ready. I made the mistake of ordering mustard on a club but managed to plow through the sandwich. It had all the workings of a normal club sandwich; turkey, sliver of bacon, tomatoes, lettuce, mayo, and slice of swiss. Coach House Deli puts a decent amount of turkey which was sliced off one of those packaged meats. I did see the Columbus brand was one of the suppliers. The bacon was weak, it wasn't even nuked and they used 2 super small strips.

The bread was a nightmare as it tasted stale. It was chewy and edges had to be removed. I took the crust and used them for my doorstop at work. I think there's potential for this sandwich but you'd have to convince me to come back considering there are 4-5 sandwich shops around my work that can do a better job.

Drew ordered the $6.75 Philly Cheesesteak (image 5,6). I traded 1/2 my club for 1/2 of the Cheesesteak. For the amount of meat they put on this sandwich, it's a ripoff and doesn't even taste that good. They skimp out on the meat and I think the panini roll was the best part and even that wasn't anything to tell your friends about. I'd stay clear from the Cheesesteak, it rates under a 6.

The good news is Coach House does have an impressive selection of alcohol. Their prices appear to be fair. Sandwiches on the other hand were just not doing it for me. I'd come back but you'd have to buy my sandwich for me.

Wine and cheese

Never tried their sandwiches, but they've got all you need for winetasting. Great selection of wine and cheese. Nice folks; too bad about the sandwiches.
