Donut Wheel is open 24 hours a day and right next to the Apple campus. For the employees who work late nights and weekends, they can rely on Donut Wheel to be open for those sugar binges. It was noon time and proud to announce that Donut Wheel has an impressive selection to choose from.

I bought an assorted dozen and only got to try the rainbow sprinkles. Not much to say but I liked it and probably could have eaten 2 more :) I love all donuts so its pretty hard to rate a bad one.

Unlike Jason, I can pan a donut that I don't like. If I eat a big fat calorie-ridden donut and it just takes OK, I get a little upset. Whats the point? If I'm gonna splurge and gourge myself, it damn well better be good.

And Donut wheel is a good donut, but would I return? I don't think so. I can appreciate the freshness of the donut and the ingredients seemed solid, but it just tasted like a regular donut to me. I didn't feel decadent while eating it. I felt guilty. The taste was a little bland compared to Stans, or even Krispy Kremes. I got my standard glazed. I would of course try other varietys if I get the word back from visitors that I am missing out. As it stands though, Donut wheel is not a delicacy I will be calling a guilty pleasure.

When I crave an apple fritter or have a late night craving for something sweet, I hit up Donut Wheel. Its open 24 hours a day and always seems to be packed with people no matter how late.

Theres a downside to being open round the clock and that is that not varieties are available when you hope they are. I usually get the maple bars, or the custard filled donut, or apple fritters (decent but large), or the glazed donuts.

There is nothing special about these donuts as they taste plain compared to Stans, but the fact they are open round the clock makes them appealing. You can always count on Donut Wheel to be open when you crave some donuts. The price is reasonable for what you get and the atmosphere within the shop is comfortable as they never rush you to give up your seat. This is a great place to much on some donuts while reading a book or doing some homework.

The parking lot is a bit small but there is plenty of street parking within the residential area.

Let me start by saying that i live very close to the Donut Wheel and this spot holds a special place in my heart. One thing that cannot be overlooked is that Donut Wheel is ALWAYS open. In fact, as well as the neon 'open' sign, 'open' is painted in the window, because the place does not close. After concerts. Before i used to open at starbucks, and all times between. The donuts are fresh. While i am not a connisuer of donuts, i do appreciate and enjoy them.
They always have a wide selection here.

And one of my two all-time favorite donuts is the apple fritter from donut wheel. with coffee, i paid $1.75 and the thing is freaking huge! Today though, I am sad to say, that my fritter was a little doughy in the center. I would recommend choosing a thinner, darker fritter to prevent this. They seem to cook the fritter in hotter oil or something, because at donut wheel, they come out crispier and darker, which is why i like them so much.
this one missed the mark, but i forgive them.

This is a historical spot in Cupertino that has been around since, i believe, the fifties. It has plenty of seating but can become overrun with teens at night. They have a gigantic buck mounted over the entryway which adds to the unique charm of the place.

They serve Marrianes Ice Cream (from santa cruz) which is really, really good, too.

The glazed donut holes are 12 for a dollar, and if you picked up a couple dozen in the morning, you could brighten a lot of co-workers days.

In the day and age when people routinely plunk down as much as 4-6 dollars for a coffee and pastry from stabucks, it is quite refreshing to know there is always a place that cooks their donuts fresh and 2 dollars can buy you your morning jumpstart(or late night sugar-fix).

I am not trying to claim epic donuts or that they are so much better here than in some other spots, but when factoring in the round-the-clock aspect, freshness, value, and ice cream, i rate this place as one of my top 3 donut spots ever(along with rose donuts and daily donuts, which is why i rate the place so high.

Not sure why, but a few of us have been getting donut cravings late at night. Being in South SJ we found a Happy Donut's open 24 off Senter Road but this Saturday night we were off to check out our friend Eric's new place in Cupertino.... Donut Wheel!!!

Geese! This place is busy at 1:15 am... We were also impressed at the full selection. Every variety was available, including the hallmark of any donut shop: the glazed raised!

WOW... fluffy, fresh, just the right amount of glaze! Priced at $8 a dozen - reasonable. Grab some milk and away we go... I also tried a chocolate glazed old fashioned. They were kept in the open air, so I was hoping they'd be fresh. To my surprise, they were. The glaze was thick, maybe a tad too thick for my liking, but the flavor was rich and chocolatey.

All donuts were of average size - nothing like Stan's big Glazed Raised but still quite tasty and satisfing when you have a craving late at night.

Overall a 7.5 + and extra .5 for the 24-hours.
If going to see buddy Eric, we'll likely stop again!

****Note, return visit on Feb 24th - slightly stale cake donuts and pastey, bland chocolate glaze on the raised donuts****
