I was a bit excited to goto House of Suchuan because I was very tempted by their sign which proclaimed 'Dim Sum' is large letters. (the only english words on the sign). Not knowing what else was on the sign, I had no idea what to expect here.

The place was relatively empty since we arrived before the lunch crowd. My first disappointment was the lack of Dim Sum carts moving around the establishment. Just a menu. Thats OK, maybe it will be a bit fresher because of it.

House of Sichuan starts filling up quickly. Good sign. But most people seem to be ordering the dishes. Hmm.... OK. We place our order for a decent amount of Dim Sum items, pleased at the low prices.

Then we wait.

And Wait.

And wait.

About 20 minutes later our Dim Sum order arrives. The items all look very delicious, but by this time, we were absolutely starving and quickly devour the items, and want to order more, but can't afford to wait another 20 minutes for the food.

So we leave, paying only $28 for 5 people's lunch, and everyone still quite hungry. Think of how much more money House of Sichuan could have made off of us had they had a cart or faster service.

So I probably will not return for the Dim Sum as this was completely unacceptable level of service, even though the food was good. If anyone recommends this place on the wishlist page for their entrees, I may return to give them a shot. But never again will I try their Dim Sum.

RETURN VISIT for Terry! 11/13/2005 - 7.5 Rating: I returned a few days ago, and was prepared to rip House of Sichuan another mediocre review. I noticed they took the dim sum sign down and cleaned up the outside appearance a little.

I visit with agents Eddie and Jay. I ordered a lunch special and a couple of dim sum items. I must admit, this time I was pretty impressed. The spicy tofu dish I got was flavorful and on par with other chinese places I have visited in the area, if not a little above. The dim sum was about average, aside from the wait.

The service really sucked though. We sat around waiting for dim sum. The confused waiters would bring out a dish we didn't order, then we'd tell them as much, and they would take it off our table and put it on another table that it was (possibly) supposed to go to. Then they would look at the receipt on our table a few minutes later and check what we had received or didn't receive, then walk away hurriedly. This repeated another 3 times. Talk about confusion. But we finally got all that we ordered and it was all pretty good. I was not happy about the fact that my dim sum may have been sitting on other people's tables by mistake before making it to my own. But food quality was decent.
