It was just me today and I decided to take down a Cupertino wishlist request (easy pickings). I wasn't expecting the far drive from downtown, but it was quite a change from the standard Cupertino location. This place is located in the boonies, way off the beaten path. When I arrived here, I was not too surprised - the complex is a bit old looking, and the interior or Judy's is very cramped (they obviously specialize in takeout ordering) and there was only one other table occupied when I arrived.

The wishlister requested I try anything sweet and sour here, but said that most everything is good. I went with the sweet and sour shrimp lunch special with the fried rice.

Service was friendly and quick. Prices were DIRT cheap. I was shocked to see these cheap prices in Cupertino. Portions were good value as well. Indeed, the sweet and sour was a bit different than normal - a bit sweeter I think. The shrimp were large and really good. Reminded me a lot of Hyang Won in Oakland actually. Soup was a bit starchy, but still solid. Eggroll was delicious.

The one big letdown was the fried rice. It was very stale tasting and not very good at all. Next time I will definitely go for the chow mein or the white rice. The kind lady did ask me afterwards if I wanted more fried rice, which is unheard of in chinese restaurants. Very kind.

I walked out with a full stomach, not much $ out of my wallet, and a tasty meal put away. Hard to find much to complain about there.

cashew chicken & family tofu

Menu prices seem reasonable but watch the "add-ons". Asked for water and were given bottled water (at $1.30 each). An extra $1.50 for fried rice drives up the %5 and $6 lunch plates. Hot and sour soup was boring. Mains good but needed m

Cashew Chicken & Chow Mein lunch special

I'm thinking more of a 6.5 or 7 rating. Not bad, not great, a decent amount of food for 11 bucks. Hot & sour soup had some kind of soapy taste to it. Chow mein noodles were a little gummy.

general's chicken lunch special

... wasn't that special. Hot and sour soup was boring, rice was OK, chicken was barely OK. Eggroll was pretty darn good. Still, not what I would expect in a JaT Rating of 8.5. Tsing Tsao *used* to be much, much MUCH better than this.
