Nicely stocked bakery with lunchtime offerings, and pearl tea as well.

Apparently the lunch at Four Seasons wasn't enough to fill Terry's hunger so he talked me into doing dessert. We've visited so many places in the Cupertino area, finding a new place can be difficult. I drove like a Zombie on De Anza until I remembered a bakery on Stevens Creek. I don't remember the name but could only remember the pearl tea sign. Ahhh...it's called L'epi D'or Bakery and not sure what it means. It appears to be Asian particularly Japanese and Taiwanese.

While browsing the aisles I saw interesting bread items like red bean baguette, green onion and dry pork, chow mein sandwiches, etc. I haven't had 90% of the items on the trays and wouldn't know where to start. If anyone is an expert at this stuff, I'd like to hear some advice on what things to try. I'm pretty willing to try anything once...well..except for the pickle sandwich.

Since I already had lunch, I wanted to get dessert. Did I want the Russian Tea Cookies, brownies, strawberry cake, or even a Strawberry Sandwich? The Strawberry sandwiched sounded so odd to me but it finally dawned on me that it's just a strawberry jam sandwich. I'm an idiot.

I have a weakness for chocolate and ordered the chocolate mousse cake. Now it might not be the traditional japanese or taiwanese style cake but it was quite good. Not too sweet and the cake was moist, spongy, airy, all the good characteristics of quality cake. If you look at picture #7, you can see the detail of the chocolate star with gold star designs on top. I'm not sure how much it cost as Terry paid for my snack.

We took seats outside and scarfed down the snacks. I don't even recall if Terry and I had a conversation, we were too fixated on eating the delicious sweets. Good selection of bakery and lunch snacks, I wouldn't hesistate on making a return visit to L'epi D'or Bakery.

We were looking for a small dessert after a light lunch today and L'epi D'or fit the bill perfectly. Its a rather small bakery that is just crammed with stuff. This is good, as nothing is worse than entering a bakery in the afternoon and seeing empty shelves with dried-up goods. The selection was also good. Looks like there are some lunch items as well if you are so inclined. There is indoor and outdoor seating at the bakery.

I decided to go with a small packages of the macaroons. They were smaller than others I have had, but enough were provided to make me happy. They were moist, soft, and not too greasy. A good balance. Cakes looked decent, but not my type (I don't like that kind of puffy, not-so-sweet, cake. I prefer the european style cakes).

I look forward to returning and will update my review with further items I order.

This shopping square brings back good memories. I used to work in the bike shop next-door back in 1994. Of course, the bike shop has already changed hands multiple times and so has this bakery. I still remember the original bakery used to be a Japanese bakery consisting mainly of cakes and bread with funky fillings.

This is definitely a Chinese bakery with a French name. My group stopped by after our dinner at Red Miso. The bakery is located directly across the street, so we just walked on over. The bakery consists of several types of selections, ranging from boba teas to smoothies, to crepes, to cakes, to hot dim sum items, and variety of cakes and breads with fillings. You can even get sandwiches and bento boxes here.

There is a special where if you purchase $5 worth of items you can get a coffee boba milk tea free. I picked out three types of packaged breads, the BBQ pork stuffed bun, and baked ham in bread topped off with cheese and onions, and baked onion bread with baked chopped green onions on top. Each bread item ranged from $1.20 to $1.60. The prices for the bread are a bit on the high end but they are wrapped individually and seem to be baked on the same day. My friend ordered a slice of mango mousse cake and I ordered a peach smoothie.

The mango mousse cake is packaged individually in its own casing. My friend said the cake was just average as the cake was a bit stale from being in the counter fridge area so long and the cake was overly sweet compared to other Chinese cakes.

My peach smoothie was not the fresh type but the artificial peach flavoring type of smoothie. I received a large smoothie with great peach like flavors. The smoothie was a bit like the Icee drinks at 7-11, where the slush is overly done it tends to melt easily.

BBQ pork bun bread was still soft but the fillings were not very fresh. There seemed to be excessive jelly base type over the BBQ pork pieces probably due to having sitting on the shelf for so long. The BBQ pork base was sweeter than usual.

Total order came to a bit under $13. Compared to Sogo Bakery, there are several selections that are not offered at Sogo, such as the drinks and crepes, but the breads and cakes are cheaper at Sogo and less oily.

The only things keeping this from a 7 is the great attentive and friendly service as well as one stop shop snack place.

Chocolate Mousse Cake (i think...)

Worked a party on Sunday, the guests brought one of their cakes and I snuck some. Beautifully decorated with fresh fruit. Very good, moist and not too sweet. They used actual chocolate instead of frosting, cracked when cut but saved lots of cleanup.

red bean moon cake, japanese chicken curry bento

I loved the red bean moon cake. you're supposed to cut it up and share it with others. i ate it all myself. it is a big/dense cake, but very good. the chicken curry bento was a lot of food and very good, great curry sauce.
