Terry and Eddie ate here before and mentioned it was worth trying. The 4 of us headed over; Terry, Eddie, Jarrod, and myself. We've worked together at 2 companies and have about 7 years of Pho lunch experiences. Our Pho tastes are pretty much inline and like the same restaurants. From what I saw on the reactions of the others was, this place is just ok. Nothing spectacular but gets the job done.

I ordered a large brisket and rare steak. The broth didn't seem too oily and barely had any green onions or cilantro. Not sure if this is a regional thing but the broth was kinda weak compared to the Pho powerhouses on Homestead and El Camino Real. The noodles were the same, meat portions were smaller, and broth was the weakest part of the soup.

Not sure if I would head back considering one of my favorite Pho places is on Homestead. Maybe an off day? One of my Vietnamese co-workers was browsing my menus on the desk and ran into Pho Minh's menu. She said prices are 50 cents to $1 more than the stuff she gets around South San Jose. Just sayin'

Finally a full on pho place within walking distance from that company named after a fruit. yay!

Pho Minh is relatively new, clean and upscale in decor, w/ prices to match. It's more expensive than it's closest real competitor, Pho Saigon, and much more expensive than sorento/little cafe, the little sandwich shop (that serves pho) across the street. But, that difference buys you a nice atmosphere, large portions and good quality food so the trade off isn't bad.

On this visit I tried:

fried egg rolls - wow these were really tasty. Fresh out of the fryer crisp, with a delicious ground pork filling. They should come w/ a warning about the hot insides like a mcdonalds apple pie.

Special combo egg noodle in oyster sauce - wanted to check out a non-bun non-soup noodle dish and this delivered the goods - pork, chicken, fish cake, shrimp, fish cake, and squid. Noodles had a good flavor and texture, very similar to those used in hong kong style pan fried noodles. Also came with a separate bowl of soup and condiments plate which can be optionally mixed in.

On previous visits I tried the the #1 beef pho combo and the #46 pork chop, chicken and egg roll combo plate and both were quite good.

Pho Minh is a welcome addition to the marina foods plaza but occupies a location that was previously togos and cafe ophelia. Let's hope that they can break the curse.

If you go, either walk or park on the outskirts because driving through the marina foods parking lot is pretty risky!
