My corker Chris has been harassing me about eating at Red Mango for what appears to be eternity. Nearly every day for about 2 months, it would be the same thing conversation,

"Hey, did you eat Red Mango yet?"
"It's so good!"
"You have to try it"
"Have you tried it yet?

Repeat for the next 30 days. I suspected he was an investor or worked on commission.

I finally gave in one day and we went during a work break. Chris wouldn't stop talking on the way there and finally had to tell him to shut his ass. At this point, Red Mango was being built up to unrealistic expectations, I hoped I could keep an open mind.

1st visit, I ordered plain tart with strawberries, white chocolate chips, and almond slivers.

2nd visit was green tea with chocolate chips.

3rd visit was plain tart with chocolate chips and granola mix.

In all visits, Red Mango is a bit light on the toppings and yet it didn't bother me too much. Less toppings means more appreciation for the star attraction, the yogurt. The yogurt is tangy-tarty and ultra creaminess. It's creamy like ice cream without the fatty overload. The temperature and texture of the yogurt is consistently outstanding. I've been to other shops in the area and half of them serve it too cold with little shards of ice. Red Mango is the smoothest of them all and you don't have to wait a couple of minutes to start eating.

I'm not sure why others share no love for Red Mango? Is it the higher prices? Higher prices can be justified with the fresh toppings and their approach of presenting a healthier alternative to ice cream. Red Mango's yogurt is all natural, gluten-free, and certifiably Kosher (from Red Mango's web site). It's also interesting Red Mango is one of the few frozen yogurt retailers to contain live and active culture....meaning, it's real yogurt. I sound like an infomerical?? wtf.

The yogurt of today is much different than the stuff from the 80's/90's. It's not a funny tasting ice cream with a horrible aftertaste, it's like yogurt you buy at the supermarket in a gelato like texture. Red Mango has been in the yogurt game for about 7 years and their selling point is, refreshing tangy yogurt dessert that's nutritious and can be enjoyed throughout the day.

Red Mango is one of my favorite yogurt shops in the area and with Pinkberry moving in recently, I'm thinking a yogurt shootout is due.

I've been here a total of 3 times. The 2 for 1 coupon deal is worth it if you maximize your order. I've tried the green tea flavor and wasn't too fond of it as the green tea flavoring didn't really enhance the taste of the original flavor. The original flavor is a much better deal in terms of taste and cost. The three times I've been here I've not added any toppings to my yogurt. Personally I feel the topping are a ripoff and if you must add toppings choose the three toppings for 1.50 more. Look at the toppings first as my friend thought the graham crackers would be the real deal instead it was just honey grahams cereal.

I don't really feel the product justifies the cost considering how many other yogurt bars are around Cupertino. Cost and taste wise I still prefer Tartini's or Yogurtland.

The texture is heavier than T's and YL but in terms of the tartness I feel it's between T's and YL.

aquagrl800 ate...

medium w/ strawberries and mochi

Worth the price when it's 2-for-1, but I'm not sure I'll be back when it costs me $4+. It's downstairs from where I live, which makes it easy-access, but also a LOUD annoyance on Friday nights w/all the loitering high school kids and skateboarder
