My first night in Denver and the start off the long weekend of eating. We were meeting one of my friends at the oldest bar in Denver, My Brother's Bar. I came here for the burgers. The bar has a lot of character and even has some beatnik history here.

My friends were talking up this place like it was the burger bomb. I had high expectations since I used to frequent burger spots with these guys back when we ate at the majority of greasy burgers stand to ever grace the LA streets.

The burger to get is the famed Johnny burger; grilled onions, jalapeno cream cheese, and 2 other cheeses. My body cant handle too much cheese so I went with a cheeseburger.

I normally put burgers into 2 categories, gourmet or greasy. I thoroughly enjoy both types and My Brother's Bar grills up greasy burgers. Cooked on a flat grill and meat consisting of your supermarket ground beef. The waitress delivered a white wrapper burger along with this plastic condiments tray. No lettuce or tomatoes...I could live with this, I think? The buns were dry and if you look at picture #6, the brown thing that isnt glistening with grease, that was their version of a burger.

I should have sent it back but I always have a fear of cook retaliation. The beef was comparable to fast food status and overall the burger ranks below what you would get at Jack-In-The-Box. I'm not kidding, it was terrible. We also ordered onion rings and those were just soaking in oil, bleh.

A 7 rating ranks pretty high for my crap burger meal but I'll be honest, I can't rate this classic bar anything under a 7. Sure the burger sucked, and maybe I am being overly generous with my score but My Brother's Bar is a lot different than other bars I've been to. The a lack of obnoxious sports junkies is always a plus for me, dim lighting, good beer, too bad they couldn't pull through with the burgers, oh well, I still had a good time.
