Ancestros was one of my favorite spots to hit when I lived in Fremont. I probably went there every 2 weeks. My usuals were the pollo asado or carnitas burritos with beans and rice. Salsa bar was awesome....take a couple containers home with chips....extremely addicting to eat.

The burrito style is a bit dryer than the traditional mexican. Not as runny or spillage of oil yet all the flavors are present for your mouth to enjoy.

If I had to pick one place in Fremont to visit for lunch, Ancestros would be in my top 3 places. I love Ancestros and will always pay them a visit when I get a chance.

Terry passed by today and mentioned they were closed. It was one of my favorite mexican restaurants in Fremont. I hope they pop up somewhere else.

Good to hear Ancestros has been open in Livermore for some time now. I haven't visited but if it's the same owners and cooks, I can guarentee you'll love the food.

This place opened recently as a much needed Mexican restaurant in central Fremont. Aside from Los Gallos, there was not much around this part of Fremont. Its definitely newer and cleaner than Los Gallos (and more expensive). I dare say its healthier too. The ingredients are fresher and purer. The tortilla, though, tastes a little stale compared to others I have tried. I ordered the Veggie super Burrito. Its average size so filled me up easily. I would return but its hard with Los Gallos (cheaper, more authentic) so close by. The upside to Ancestros is that it is more sit-down friendly with real waitresses and indoor and outdoor seating (plus its a cleaner, nicer location). The rotisserie chicken spinning near the entrance tells me the chicken is probably pretty good here. Give it a try!
