Its been years since I've been to Carmen Family Bar-B-Q. Basically, since I've become mostly vegetarian. There is really not much for the Vegetarian eater here. When I did go here, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I felt it my duty to Jatbar to suffer any gastronomical pains resulting from heavy meat intake to put Carmens on the site.

Carmens is a pretty basic interior. The sign says they've been around since 1979 and the interior looks it. Thats fine though because you're here for the food.

The menu is a bit limited (maybe too small). I could run through it here in my review: Barbecue Chicken, Barbecue Beef Links, Barbecue Ribs. They are offered in two sizes: lunch and dinner. This just determines the amount of meat you get. Both include a scoop of VERY tasty potato salad. Another option is to go for the $1 corn bread (also quite tasty) or the beans (surprise, also very tasty). They are all worth a try.

There are 3 levels of spiciness. Not spicy, medium, and hot. I got the hot and it was pretty warm but not as bad as some Thai dishes I've had. Maybe a Traditional Death on the University Chicken scale. (or a tad bit spicier).

You can order a variety of beer here, including Jamaican beer (its a Jamaican barbecue place) which I usually go for. The prices are kind of high for what you are getting, but its worth going every once in awhile. Be sure you bring cash, they don't take ATMCredit.
