I made the visit out to China Season out of circumstance, I wanted Persian food but they were closed. Im normally not a fan of buffets but I had to give them a chance. I think the 1st thing you will notice is how extremely large the buffet is at China Season. It rivals some of the buffets you see in vegas. The selection is 2nd to none that Ive seen in the bay area when it comes to asian food; japanese, korean, and chinese.

On my first round on the buffet line, I tried some sushi, korean bbq, and numerous other things. I wasnt too fond of the sushi or most of the other items, I pretty much stuck with seafood. I made 3 trips total with the last 2 trips consisting of fried shrimps, crab, fried fish, and mussels. With roughly $15 a plate, you better believe Im going to get my moneys worth.

Well, I think the food is decent but whats even more appealing is the selection. I might be exagerating but there had to be over 100 dishes in the buffet line. I was a fan of seafood and found 4-5 items I liked. With many choices in front of you, Im positive you wil find something for you stomach. They should have cots outside, I was about ready to explode since I overate, I wanted to take a small nap before the drive home.

***Update 7.9.06 ***
Looks like this place is closed.

I have been eagerly anticipating the opening of this place after Emil Villas Hickry Pit closed down in this location. At first it was China Harbor, and then finally now it is China Season and it is open.

I was very impressed with the interior of the place. Nice lighting, leather seating, clean clean clean. The food selection was equally impressive. A LARGE selection of Chinese dishes as well as Japanese.

Price was a bit steep at $13.99 for adults and $4.99 for people under 4 feet tall. Yeah, you read that right.

Anyway, the food quality was just OK. With some better (non yellow) shrimp fried rice they would improve a half point. Otherwise, I had no problems finding satisfying food here. The crab legs were popular items here, but the rest of the crab dishes here were imitation.

Dessert selection was pretty good too with 6-7 offerings including ice cream. Overall, I found China Season to be pleasing and nobody will have problems finding something to eat here. The price, though, will not be cheap unless you are bringing a bunch of kids or small people along.

I believe China Season is now closed, I passed by the restaurant a few weeks ago and there was no one in it. Anyways, this restaurant is an imitation of Todai as they copied the format of the restaurant and hired their kitchen staff to work for them. The differences are that the sushi and dessert selection is a lot less, however they are both good. The prices are expensive for a normal Chinese buffet, but the food is modest. They also have a really good hot food selection compared to any Asian buffet that I've eaten at.

There were so many different hot food entrees. Usually the food is just the same few items seasoned and mixed with different vegetables, but they have managed to create good variety. When I went there was a lot of shrimp dishes, and each tasted different but they were all very tasty.

Downsides to the restaurant is how crowded it can get. I felt like I was sitting with the table next to me, and people kept on bumping into my chair. Also the line was very long and I couldn't get many crab legs each trip I made. The table I was sat at didn't have much space, so when the servers did not clear the plates fast enough, I had no space for my new plates. You also have to ask the waitstaff for napkins that they keep in their aprons. As with buffets, the quality of the food is dampened by how much of it there is. Overall, it's a variety of satisfactory food, but I wouldn't pay as much as I did to eat there.
