What luck, another Salvadorean Mexican restaurant review this week! Los Chorros was a recent opening in Fremont's Irvington district, across from the Burger King.

The place was empty but large. I expect this place could get packed in the evenings. Anyway, I find a nice table and sit down. The menu is brought out quickly by the friendly wait-staff and I peruse the items. I of course was going to order my usual Super Veggie burrito, but I wanted to try something else, so ordered a Cheese pupusa and a Bean pupusa.

Complimentary chips and salsa were brought out promptly. I found the chips to be non-traditional but highly addictive. I could have eaten a few baskets of these. The salsas were freshly made, the red sauce was funky though. It tasted like enchilada sauce and didn't belong with the chips. The tomatoonion salsa was delicious however and I ate mostly this.

The veggie burrito was large and I was very anxious to try this out. I had never found a Salvadorean restaurant that made a bad burrito. Refried beans, awesome. White rice. Ugh. Not white rice. Why or why is there white rice at a mexican restaurant? And this is not the first time I have encountered this.

While everything else in the burrito was perfect (too much guacamole though) the rice really ruined it for me. I couldn't finish it.

The cheese pupusa was freshly made and delectible. I could definitely order this again. The bean one, while filled with refried beans, didn't quite appeal to me as much as the cheese one. But it was fresh tasting and I ate half of it.

Los Chorros has a lot of potential. They need to visit a powerhouse like La Bamba in Mountain View and modify a few components of their burrito and they could be a Fremont all-star. As it is, though, I am sorry to have to rate them down. White Rice = bad.
