Had a lot of requests for this one, and while I had been here many times, I hadn't gone in a few years and had the opportunity to add it to jatbar.

I phoned my order in and picked it up at the restaurant. The first thing I noticed, looking over the menu on their website was how expensive the pizza was. I was used to cheapy New York Pizza prices so I was a little shocked when I saw a Medium dbl Cheese and large half meat lovers - half combo pizza to be $35 (after coupons). Thats cool, though, its a local establishment and I'm happy to support them.

It also was my first visit to this new location. Previously I had visited their location across from Ohlone College many times. While the ohlone location was dark and dismal, I found this new one to be bright and airy and full of a lot more character with all the beer taps and signs on the walls. And of course the stage for the weekend Bluegrass performances.

Pizza was prepared in 35 minutes and I was on my way home. I immediately dug into the cheese pizza and was satisfied with the high quality sauce and cheese. Not New York style but decent in its own way. The crust while crispy and buttery at the bottom was a bit too thick for my tastes. If the crust had the wonderful bottom and half the thickness we'd have a winner here. There was not much flavor to the crust, compared to the sweetness of New York Pizza on Fremont Blvd.

Overall I would return but the key would be to eat at this colorful establishment rather than take it home and perhaps enjoy some weekend live music as well.

RETURN VISIT for Terry! 2/20/2005 - 9 Rating: OK, I must update my review. I went back on a crowded weekend and ate at Mission Pizza. I sample a couple of the large selection of beers on tap. And ordered a custom pizza - the Andromeda's Spiral Galaxy (without the sausage). It took awhile to arrive since the place was so packed, but it was worth the wait. The combination was full of flavorful ingredients and the mixture of them all was something MUCH better than each of thier parts. It all just melded together to create something incredible. And thats not just the 2 pints of beer talking. I just had another slice as leftovers before I typed this review, and it still tasted pretty darn good.

Do yourself (and Mission Pizza) a favor and go on the weekend and sit down and enjoy some beer while you're there. Good luck finding a table.

RETURN VISIT for Terry! 3/16/2005 - 9 Rating: Last night, we went back here again and this time they had live music playing. VERY awesome. The combination of the good beer selection, great pizza (Andromedas Galaxy!), and live music was something not to be missed. There's even some arcade machines for the kids to play on while you're sitting back enjoying the atmosphere. Hard to believe I was in Fremont last night.

Absolutely delectable! I looked at the online menu and pre-ordered to prevent any wait. I hate waiting. The online menu is laid out very wonderfully; it is color-coded to signify meat pizzas, chicken pizzas and veggie pizzas. For some reason, I've always been very fond of bbq pizzas so it would be easier for me to compare this one to previous ones I've tasted.

The bbq chicken pizza here is officially called 'Tristen's BBQ Chicken'. Who exactly is Tristen anyway? It is neither of the founders nor their children's name. The pizza consists of BBQ Chicken, BBQ Sauce, Extra Cheddar Cheese, Red Onions, Bell Peppers. I ordered a mini, not knowing how big it was going to turn out, and it was $5.75. I requested for extra mozarella on the top and the lady on the phone sounded surprised that I wanted it on the top (she kept asking, 'on the top??'). She said it would take about 25 minutes.

The restaurant is located in a mini plaza in the middle of a huge residential area and seems almost out in nowhere. I like the quiet though. At around 1:10pm, there was a family of 3 and another group of 4 teens inside. The inside is like your typical pizza parlor/pub, all wooden everything and TVs. I got there exactly 25 minutes after the phone call and my food was ready to go. The man that got there wasn't too friendly - just asked what I needed and gave it to me. I could feel through the box that it was hot and piping.

The pizza itself was delicious. It was about 7' in diameter & probably 3/4' thick which is definitely enough for me. There was sufficient extra cheese - not so much where it's spilling off the slice as I pick it up. There are long strips of chicken which were well cooked - not too chewy and definitely not raw. I didn't give it a higher rating because the crust could use a little work. The crust seemed to be confused as to whether it wanted to be crispy or doughy, not to mention it was slightly bland. Perhaps they should put more butter/oil on it before cooking.

Luckily for this pizza, the toppings were so overwhelmingly good, I didn't concentrate so much on the crust. I'd definitely go back - easy location with good parking, quiet neighborhood, timely service.

Pepperoni & Mushroom Pizza

Sauce is tomato paste based and full of flavor. The crust has a nice crisp and not too bread like. Toppings are piled on. A little on the pricey side but an excellent pizza none the less.
