Its probably not fair that Im giving Vienna Bakery Cafe an 8.5 (id give a 8.75 if we had that rating) since cake was a day old, served at room temperature, and waiters who served the cake hacked it up badly. The cake was great and all but I gotta have my cake chilled. It was moist and icing was sweet. In between the layers was a strawberry jam mix. They would have used real strawberries but the bakery recommended going with the jam mix because of I forgot what (heat? or something else?)...but its nice that a bakery would let you know right off the bat what will taste best.

You know the place has to be pretty good if Vienna Bakery and Cafe has been around for 30 years.

My family has been getting cakes (birthdays, anniversaries, etc) at Vienna as long as I can remember. They have recently changed locations but that has not affected the quality of their cakes at all. Be they chocolate cakes, white cakes, it doesn't matter. Any cake you get here is incredible. My particular favorites are the white cake with strawberry filling or the chocolate devils food with chocolate filling. If you live in Fremont and you are buying your cakes at Safeway or Albertons, you are a fool. This place is so unbelievable, I think it would be worth the trip if you lived out of Fremont just to pick up your cakes here. Give em a try!

What a lovely place! All the cakes were in stock and I ended up leaving with the 'Grand Marnier' ($25.50) which is a half chocolate/half vanille cake with apricot filling and a dash of Grand Marnier alcohol liquer. It was topped with chocolate shreds and disks.

I bought the cake around 2pm and didn't eat it until 8pm. The employee told me that the cake did not need to be refrigerated as none of their cakes on hand are. I'm assuming that it's probably because they don't use whip cream. In the window, I saw a variety of chocolate based cakes (my favorite) and they use different kinds of chocolate which is excellent. They also had fruit tarts but those didn't look as good. Who knows though? Never judge food by it's cover.

Cake- airy. Not too moist, not dry at all. I believe the chocolate portion resembled a more milk chocolate taste, not very bitter.

Apricot Filling- tangy and light. There's only one layer of this which is perfect because any more and it would be overpowering. There are bits of fruit in it which gives it texture.

The best thing about this cake was that it was not too sweet, surgary or heavy at all. I will definitely come here again for birthday cake occasions!

Our friends local to Fremont have been raving about Vienna bakery for some time. We had them over for dinner last night and OH MY! They brought a nice white box from Vienna...

They brought a Apricot-Cheese Tart. Lord, I could have eaten 3 slices of it but I hate to look like a pig in front of friends.

The crust was tender, even a bit flakey. It wa salso just the right thickness. Often tarts will have a too thick a crust for my tastes but Vienna Bakery know how to get to the good stuff.

The center was a cream cheese-apricot filling, that was creamy, flavorful and certainly fresh tasting. The filling was maybe 1/2 inch thick. If it was just a little taller, I would have to bump their rating to a 9.5

On top were fresh apricots baked into the tart with a apricot glaze on top. They were moist, tender and sweet. They definitey use fresh ingredients all around on their products. A dried apricot would have been a rubbery choice. The apricots were truly delcious. I miss summer fruits already!

The whole tart was 10 or 12 inches in diameter - a nice large size. Shame we didn't snag a piece before they took the rest home... ah well! If in the area I will certainly make a stop.

What dish did you eat?

I had been a customer for year of Vienna, but it seems they have changed ownership / management and now the cakes are absolutely disgusting. I purchased a cake for my son's birthday with custom decoration.Beautiful decoration, but tasteless.

Eclairs, Fruit Tart, various cookies

I can't pass up a good eclair and they certainly delivered. We also got some apple cheesecake type thing to bring to a friend's place for dinner and it went over VERY well. This is new to me but is going to be a regular haunt.

guava cake

Since Aki and Vienna bakeries are now sisters, you can find Aki goods (including guava cake) here as well. :)

Strawberry Ring

Heavenly! I bought it for a work birthday celebration and didn't hear one complaint except there wasn't enough.
