I gotta stop eating mexican food but its sooo frickin addicting. For lunch, we ate at Estrellita in Los Altos. We noticed this place after eating Susies Sushi one day. First thing you notice upon walking in is the similar decorations that you would find at Fiesta Del Mar and La Fiesta. They all share the same furniture and colorful schemes. I wonder if they hire the same interior decorator?

We were seated down immediately, within 2 minutes a plate of chips appeared with 2 types of salsa rojo and verde. Verde was ok but the Rojo was spicey leaving you with a mild burning sensation...thumbs up for that. Chips were excellent.I still havent learned my lesson with eating chips at the table. I cant stop eating those damm things...I end up overeating and nearly pass out on the way back to work.

Thought I would try something new today and steered away from a burrito and ordered Chicken and Beef Flautas (they look like oversized taquitas but taste 10x better) As usual with any mexican restaurant, they serve supersized portions. The dish came with beans and rice with a side of mexican salad.

Beans - great!!
Rice - fluffy, moist, perfect
Flautas - you cant go wrong with deep fried tortillas filled with any type of meat. Topped off with sour cream and guacamole. No complaints about the meal

If youre tired of eating taqueria joints, bored with unwrapping the foil off your burritos, savoring mediocre salsa, break plastic forks while cutting through your meal, or watch the oil soak through your paper plates? If you said yes to any of those, visit Estrellitas, food is good and dining experience is relaxing.

Estrellita restaurant was a nice find. It was a little inconspicous so I drove by it dozens of times and until we drove there I never knew it existed (next to Armadilllo Willys). The lackluster exterior gives way to a colorful interior that is very reminiscent of the Fiesta Del Mar restaurants.

The service here was great. We received waters without asking as well as tasty chips and a red and green salsa. They are quite spicy and we enjoyed them immensely.

I chose to go for the Gourmet Burrito (bean and cheese version). It arrived and was dutifully HUGE. It also came with a small salad on the plate as well. The burrito had refried beans around it, as well as sauce (spicy to your preference) and cheese on top. I found the whole exterior of the burrito to be very mushy and a bit put-offish. I still devoured it quickly. The shell was very generic and didn't have much taste. The insides contained refried beans as well as the cheese and other mixture. The whole thing tasted very fresh and an exciting experience for the mouth. I would definitely recommend their burritos, but they were not the best one I have ever tasted and for $8.50 perhaps I was expecting more. This is not to say that the place isn't worth another visit. Far from it, I plan to go to Estrellita's again and maybe next time I'll go with the cheese enchiladas or something else. The food here tasted fresh and I can't imagine the large menu containing many misses in my opinion.

I have been meaning to try Estrallita for some time and tonight I finally had an opportunity. The atmosphere in this place is great. The first thing you notice when you come in is a display of a selection of dishes near the door. Perusing possible entrees and side dishes while waiting to be seated is unusual at a Mexican restaurant and a very nice touch.

Our service all night was a little slow. It took about 5 minutes for someone to come and seat us, we ran out of water and had to ask for refills on more than one occasion and we didn't even bother to be in a hurry to get our check. But, chips and salsa were promptly brought to the table and the chips were phenomenal - fresh, warm, crispy, salty.

I ordered the fajita burrito. It had fajita meat, rice, beans, and peppers wrapped in a big tortilla and came with guac and sour cream on the side. I was a little bit disapointed in it. The fajita meat was pretty bland and the beans inside were runny and made the tortilla soggy. But the guacamole was excellent, and I used it on yet more tortilla chips. What saved this restaurant from a lower score was my friend's dish, which I got to taste. The refried beans were delicious - cooked perfectly and just exactly what refried beans should be. She had beef enchiladas and those were also really good. They were stuffed full with tender meat and smothered in more guacamole.

This place had a lot of atmosphere and was a great, laid back dining experience. I will definitely go back to Estrallita, but I'm going to order something different next time.
