Thanks to Andrea for submitting Agulilla Market to our wish list. Ive been to Menlo Park a couple of times but never visited Middlefield road where to my stomachs suprise was a handful of taqueria joints. I must have counted 15 places in a 2 mile stretch. Gold mine for mexican food!

Reading up on the history of Aguililla Market, this place started 24 years ago as a Market, then a restaurant, to a Taqueria shop serving authentic mexican food. I went for dinner on the way home from work and had a bit of trouble finding parking on the Middlefield. I finally spotted parking spots behind the Aguililla Market.

Judging by the size of this place and size of the food counter where all the toppings are located, I can see this place gets packed during the day. With so many choices on the menu and wonderful mexican aromas in the air, I had to order my special....carnitas burrito with rice, beans, and guacamole.

The lady behind the counter lifted up this steel lid and revealed a beautiful site. It was a huge pork slab of meat...ooohh carnitas. She cut a big piece for me and chopped it up. I didnt get the crunchy part but my portions were extremely tender. I dont think it had any seasoning besides salt and natural pork flavor.

One interesting note was the way she cooked my tortilla. She heated 1 side of it browning it. She then placed the brown side up and placed the beans, rice, pico de gallo, meat, and guacamole. The browned tortilla gave a burned flavor to the burrito which actually made it taste better. I liked this technique.
Rice and beans were delicious making this burrito a serious contender in the competitive taqueria hotspot.

With so many places to choose from in Middlefield, at least you now know Aguililla Market delivers powerhouse style burritos. This place has the potential to be 9 but for tonights meal, it just misses it slightly but not by much. I have no doubts that the name Aguililla Market will come up again in jatbar for serving up great tasting burritos.
