Classic donut shop with a few extra goodies not usually found.

It was recommended that I go for the donut holes, especially the filled ones. It sounded good to me. My son and I get there and the place is pretty busy for a Saturday morning. Lotsa people getting donuts to go, but there was actually plenty of seating here as well. We decided to sit here. My son had a half dozen regular donuts holes and I went with a dozen of the chocolate creme filled donut holes. I tried the regular ones first. They were decent, but nowhere near mind blowing. In fact they were a bit on the stale tasting side. They were fresh, no doubt, just didn't have any pizzazz-y goodness that I was hoping for. They tasted like any other few-hour-old donut hole, despite the cool squarish shape. The filled ones were more of the same. In fact, the filling was delicious. It reminded me of the chocolate creme filling from the filled malasadas I had on the big island of hawaii. The dough outside of the creme though was the same bland tasting dough that was in the normal donut holes. It seemed like a lot of people were going for the ham-and-cheese croissants or the egg crossaints. Next visit I will have to try an egg one. I found this to be a great place to bring kids as the donut display is huge compared to most places. Lots of goodies to ogle while waiting for your turn in line. I hope to return again and give them another try in the near future since they are somewhat close to home.
