Darda has some decent food, and lines were out the door... you know they are raking in the cash here. Shame on them for not treating their customers with respect and providing a clean, safe environment for them.

Darda may seem like your typical Chinese restaurant. In fact you may not even notice a difference when looking at the menu, unless you are specifically looking for pork items. Darda is a Muslim Chinese restaurant that does not serve the “other white meat”, pork. Instead, if you fancy lamb, they offer several lamb dishes.

My friend and I arrive around 7pm on Friday for dinner and the restaurant is semi filled. Were quickly seated and given menus. The menu items can be found on their website. Most of the items on the menu are commonly found at other restaurants. A successful Darda eating experience relies on knowing what dishes to order. The best way is to look at what everyone else is ordering. Common items that almost everyone order is the Sesame Bread with Green Onion (1 thick or thin style). This is typically ordered to replace the steamed rice. Several people ate this with their noodle dish or their entrees.

My friend suggested we each order the Hot & Spicy Beef noodle soup ($6.95), an order of Green Onion Pancake ($1.95) and an order of beef fried dumplings (8/$4.95). Service was quick and friendly. We received our cups of water soon after our request. Several minutes later, we received our bowls of noodle. Originally when we ordered our noodles, we were given the option for thick noodles or thin noodles. The thin noodles are the typical hand pulled styled noodles and the thick noodles are massive like, half of a, chow fun noodles but much thicker and chewy. The bowls of noodles are very large and are filled with beef chunks. Some of the beef was very tender but other chunks were over cooked and dry. The beef soup was light and refreshing and the best part, the beef soup was not spicy like the menu claimed. This order was a good value for 6.95 as we were stuffed just on the noodle soup alone. (8/10)

The green onion pancake did not have a lot of flavor. The pancake was super thin and filled with onions but lacked the crispiness and salted onion taste. Do not expect to get full on the green onion pancake. If youre looking for more heft, get the green onion bread version. (7/10)

Darda should have a side business called Juicy Pot Stickers. These beef pot stickers are filled with juice. One could probably gather a shot glass worth of juice from an order of these pot stickers. Despite having that darker beef color the taste is much better than the pork version. The outer skin could have been a little but more crispy but over all a good item to get. Dont expect to get this dish before your main entrees as the dim sum items may have a 15 minute wait. These pot stickers were the last item to arrive on our table. (8/10)

By the time we were done a huge waiting list had formed and there were several parties waiting inside and outside for a table. This place is popular and its obvious to see why. I have also been here for lunch and its equally busy. Knowing what to get is the main ingredient for an affordable and enjoyable meal.

Final meal was a little over $20.

Accepts credit cards (Visa, MC) with no minimum purchase. Arrive early to secure yourself a table.
