King Chicken Wing was freshly opened and had the Grand Opening sign up. Search on google produced no matches, so figured it would be a good place to try out.
We walk in and find the place to be quite cramped, maybe a bit dirty but not too bad. I think this is primarily a takeout place so can't fault them too much for eat-in accomodations. The owners seemed quite friendly and service was fast.
The was some walkup items that you could get a 1,2,or 3 order combination and eat in or walk out. They also offer a vast menu of traditional chinese-american food. It reminded me a lot of Eastern Winds in Fremont. They also cater for parties and offer chicken wings, eggrolls, shrimp balls, etc, in 25,50, or 100 item trays. So they would be a good supplier for your next house party.
I ordered the Shrimp Fried Rice and found it to be very good. Maybe a bit much on the sodium but I think thats normal for these places. Found it to be very close in taste to Eastern Winds. Shrimp seemed a bit tiny but overall found it pleasing. I also tasted an eggroll. Tasted very fresh and flavorful, but had a couple little chunks of meat in it. Oh well, not what I was expecting, but tasted good.
Check out the menu, and if you are in the area, King Chicken Wing would be just the ticket.

I have a big cast party coming up for my dance performance so I decided to seek out a Chinese restaurant or take out place that caters to party trays. I narrowed it down to Mr. Chaus Chinese fast food, Luckys, J & J Hawaiian BBQ, and King Chicken Wing.
My main tray would be either combination fried rice or BBQ fired rice. My second tray would depend on anything else worthwhile and cheap. Mr. Chaus prices were a bit on the high side as either veggie or chicken fried rice cost $22 for a small tray. Their fried rice is decent but their price was just too high. J & Js has cheap fried rice at $13.99 for a small tray, which is more than enough to feed a large group. The problems with their fried rice are that the rice hardens up when the rice gets cold and their fried rice is egg less. Luckys looks healthy from the photo on Jatbar but I could not find any mention of prices for their party trays. The final choice was King Chicken Wing. The items on their menu are cheap and their small party tray for fried rice starts at $12.
I was planning to stop by for lunch on Saturday to try out the items but instead ended up here for dinner tonight as I swung by my friends house to drop off some tickets for the dance performance this weekend. Normally I would not venture here as it is completely out of the way for me but my friend live close by.
King Chicken Wing is easy to find. It is located on the same side as Union 76 and next to a 7-11. The grand opening sign is still hanging from the store as a way to bring in business as visibility from the streets is not obvious without the sign. Dinner is all al-la-cart as you order from the to-go menu. The only items under the heat lamps are chicken wings, fried won tons, and egg rolls.
I scan over the menu, although I already knew what I wanted. The prices have gone up since Terry went, as the menu posted on Jatbar is $0.50 to $1.00 cheaper on some items than the new menu prices. Surprisingly the party tray items on the new menu are cheaper. Small trays are cheaper by $2.00 and large trays are cheaper by $4.00.
I order the BBQ pork fried rice ($4.50), the Peking style spareribs ($5.65), and four egg rolls (2.17 after tax). Everything is made from fresh upon ordering, as there are no items left from the steam tray. Luckily, there are no orders in front of mine as there is only one chef cooking. After 10 or so minutes my food is ready.
I get home about 30 minutes later and my food is still hot. The fried rice and spareribs stuffed to the brim and the egg roll bag was a bit greasy.
BBQ Pork Fried Rice: Stuffed to the top of the box as pictured in the photo. Big chunks of Chinese BBQ pork, eggs, green peas, and carrots. Tasty fried rice although mine was a lot darker than the one pictured. Obviously, a lot of soy sauce was used in making my rice but excellent flavors. (8.5/10).
Peking spareribs: I was disappointed to find that they used the low quality pork like spareribs instead of the actual type of spareribs that are flat. These looked a lot like pork versions but with a lot of bones and fat. Had I known they would use this type of sparerib I would not have ordered this dish. (6.5/10).
Egg roll: Not as good as king egg roll but still high up there in terms of freshness and taste. These were a bit more oily than the king egg roll version but also a lot fatter. Plenty of veggies with a hint or meat in the egg rolls. (7.5/10).
This is an excellent take out place but unfortunately, it is out of the way. They offer a wide variety of choices at an affordable price. The real bargains are the party trays as there are plenty of choices and now even cheaper. I would definitely come here for my party trays.
** Update 6/10/2006 **
Today was the big cast party pot luck. King Chicken Wing did not disappoint on the fried rice previously. I called them up to order a small tray of House Fried rice which consisted of BBQ pork, chicken, beef, and shrimp. A little bit of each but not over whelming. I also ordered 25 shrimp balls. The lady who took my order said that the 25 shrimp balls would take over an hour to cook. HOLY COW! Boy was I glad I called in an hour earlier than I had expected to call in. The shrimp balls had to be deep fried. I arrive an hour later and my shrimp balls were still frying in the deep fryer. I waited another 20 minutes. While I waited the guy behind the counter prepared my fried rice in a huge wok. It took about 5 minutes to cook my fried rice.
There was so much fried rice he had to pile it on. I think I got at least a large tray's worth of fried rice in a small tray. For $12, this is the best deal in town to bring to any party. The kind of rice they use here is steamed white rice so it's sticky. There are two methods to cook fried rice. Some restaurants use day old rice so the rice is a bit hard and does not stick together while others use fresh steam rice and tends to be sticky but also can last a day longer in the fridge.
The shrimp balls are your typical shrimp balls found at dim sum. It was great while it was still hot but after it cooled down the inner shrimp like filling tasted overly salty. The filling was not the pink color typically found at dim sum but a white color. An average deal at $14 for a tray of 25 shrimp balls.
The lady behind the counter even helped me carry out the food to my car because there was so much. The fried rice weighed at least 5 pounds. There was so much fried rice the tin plan was sagging down. The shrimp balls was not a big hit at the pot luck but the fried rice was almost a goner.
