La Milpa was packed during the lunch hour rush and we ended up waiting 10 minutes. The service did make up for the short wait. We ordered and they had our dishes ready in less than 10 minutes.

I ordered something new today from the menu...chicken chimi. This dish is a smaller version of the chimichanga without the rice and beans. You save about $3 and it will fill you up. Its been years since Ive had one of these, not because I dont like them, because I know its dangerous to the health. Id have to burn it off on the treadmill for a couple of hours.

Lightly deep fried burrito topped off with guacamole and heavy sour cream. I sawed off a section with my knife and piled in a mouthful. OOhhh man..it was good. Chicken was very tender like it had been cooked slowly simmered. I dont recall if there was a lot of cheese but it was fine the way it was. I tried some of the carnitas......it wasnt crispy but it melts in your mouth....exceptional. I would have to order this on my next visit.

If you are short on time and want to experience good mexican food, La Milpa is your place.

La Milpa was a recommendation to Jatbar so we were excited to try it out. Its not often we get to review a family style sit-down mexican restaurant. La Milpa is great for lunch as they work FAST. They get your order, bring your food, and care for your needs very quickly and efficiently. Can't compliment the staff there enough.

I decided to order my standard sit-down fare - 2 cheese enchilada combo. It came out to about $9 which is about average for this meal at other places. The rice was just OK, nothing to write home about. The beans were better though perhaps a bit runny. The cheese enchiladas were decent, above average. Not the most flavorful ever, but good. I would order them again at La Milpa. I also got to sample the Veggie Burrito. This was VERY good. I would DEFINITELY order this again. It was very flavorful and fresh tasting.

While I think their food quality is not up to par with La Casita or El Patio in Fremont, they are a great destination for a quick lunch. Give La Milpa a try!

I was very excited about trying a new Mexican place for lunch yesterday and La Milpa was everything I could have hoped for.

The service here was exceptional. One of my coworkers realized he needed to be back at the office shortly after we arrived, so we were in a hurry. Our entire lunch, serving 5 people, took about 45 minutes - lightening fast. The waiters were efficient and the food was prompt and delicious.

I ordered a Tamale plate, which came with rice and beans. The pork in the tamale was a little bit dry, but the corn meal in which it was wrapped was delicious and made the overall taste very satisfactory. The rice was a little bland, but the beans were good enough to make up for it. The highlight of my lunch was my luck at getting to taste the chicken chimichanga. It was smothered in sour cream and guac and it was just devine! The chicken was shredded, increadibly juicy and the tortilla was cooked to perfection. The chimichanga alone upped my rating from an 8 to an 8.5.

The food and service more than made up for the long drive to Milpitas for lunch (from Mtn. View, at least). Both dishes I tried were great and everyone else eating with me had nothing but praise for their choices as well. I'll definitely be returning to La Milpa again soon.

Steak Fajitas (The BEST!)

This is my favorite Mexican Restaurant. I have been going to it for 25 years. Their food is fabulous! I usually get the Cosido Soup or Steak Fajitas. Everything there is of highest quality, especially the service!

What dish did you eat?

This is one of my fav Mexican restaurants. The dishes are so fresh and authentic! The burritos are not as good as a burrito stand in the city, but they get the job done. Great chips, salsa, rice and beans, too.

Sonoran omelette

This dish is very similar in taste and appearance to "Migas" a dish you may be familiar with if you are from Austin. It's a lovely combination of eggs scrambled with tortilla chips. MUCH BETTER THAN IT SOUNDS! A MUST TRY!

Veggie Fajitas, Large Burrito, Taco Salad, etc...

My family's come here an average of once a week for the past 25 years or so. Awesome food and service, and they can make almost anything veggie. My favorite is the veggie fajitas, a single order is good for two people (or leftovers the next day ;) )
