Hawaiian restaurant in McCarthy Ranch

I was thinking of going over to a chinese restaurant on the other side of McCarthy, but changed my mind at the last minute and settled on Mahalo. Stuffed between Banana Leaf and Los Cunados, this place has to be good to still be open after the year or so its been around. I enter and the place is empty. I look at the menu and go with the seafood platter, my usual order at hawaiian restaurants. I take my seat and wait. It was good to see free refills on the fountain drinks. My order arrives in a styrofoam container and I open it up to check things out. Looks entirely by the numbers, which isn't bad. I taste the items. They were all pretty standard stuff here. The fish was good, probably the best part of it. Though still nothing special. I was severely disappointed with the shrimp, as it was very small, yet the breading was increased to make it look big. The breading was just bland and greasy - ugh. The scallops were better, but the breading was falling off so it was like eating plain scallops. Rice was standard. Macaroni was good, but ultimately did not save this meal. Price was good, service was good, but I just couldn't see myself returning here for the seafood platter. The entire time I was here, there was maybe 2 other groups of customers, taking their food to go. Too many good places nearby to hit up before I would goto Mahalo.

“The people who work there are really clueless. We were the only people there and they forgot what we ordered and paid, so it took them 30 min to get our food. The food was not good. I would rather go to L & L, and I hate L&L. ”
