Ive probably driven past Austins at least a 100 times and never had the urge to visit up until now. I havent met anybody who had went cuz I think most people went to Armadillo Willys? I came here for lunch particularly for the beef brisket which by the way is my favorite BBQ item. At Austins they have 2 combo dishes for about $12-13 and choose the brisket and pulled pork. I have no idea what pulled pork is I can only guess its meat pulled from pork? For something thats already cooked, BBQ took quite some time to get to the table. It wasnt too busy or anything. The pulled pork looked funky..kind of like long strands of meat that resembled fresh jerky? I took a bite and it was depressingly dry. It had some flavor but not much. The brisket looked more promising and luckily that was good. I asked for the spicey bbq sauce and noticed the only difference between mine and normal are the dry red pepper flakes. The BBQ sauce is what saved my brisket from being average to below average. Im not a BBQ expert or anything but all I can offer is my opinion. The pulled pork is something I wouldnt order again, brisket was good, beans and fries were ok. I know BBQ can get expensive at times but I dont think I can justify spending $13-16 for a lunch meal that left me pondering if I would make a return visit. *Update 8.31.05 * Restaurant has closed due to rent increases on property.
