I think Terry is obsessed with mexican food lately..we've had mexican food 3 times this week. I guess I dont mind, Im always looking for the perfect burrito. Today we made our visit to Jennifer Taqueria.

I ordered a regular carnitas burrito. The carnitas was tender with a occasional glob of fat attached. Rice and tortillas was damm good but the beans left me wanting more. I still dont understand why Bay Area shops dont use refried beans as much as the SoCal. The salsa needed some improvement. It tasted like tapatillo with some tomato paste added. I want to come back and try there carne asada.

Jennifer Taqueria is definitely in the running for value lunch of the year. I bought a Carnitas Burrito for $4 and got free chips/salsa.

RETURN VISIT for Jason! 8/29/2004 - 6 Rating: I hate to give out scores lower than 7s but my last lunch at Jennifer Taqueria was disappointing. I got 2 tacos carne asada and carnitas...very bland. I tried adding salsa to it..nothing...I added Tapatio sauce...nothing worked. No matter what I added to it, it could not be improved. Whats worse was the carne asada was served warm...whenever I get asada, I want that stuff steaming or hot...so sad.

I found this place through Yahoo maps (as opposed to driving by it like the other places we review). So I was completely unsure what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised. The prices posted (ie $4) are after-tax prices. So my $3.50 veggie burrito was $3.50 final. Wow. It was a pretty good size too. Rice tasted good, lotsa fresh tomatoes and lettuce and onions. Overall a decent veggie burrito at a decent price.

This place is great. Totally unexpected from the name of the taqueria. Located across the street from Tony and Alba’s and in the same plaza as 7-11. The taqueria is clean and the service is friendly. Prices are pretty good as well.

Chicken Sope: Crispy shell, a mix of grilled chicken with shredded chicken. Filling and tasty. Chicken had a lot of flavour.

Pupusa: thick, hand-made corn tortilla with refried beans inside. It’s also known as a gordita in Mexico. The item itself looked very plain so I was amazed it had so much flavor. Could stand on it’s own without any added sauce or salsa.

Free chips and salsa: Not much to talk about here. The chips were stale and salty and salsa was just meh.

Overall I’d definitely make a trip back here. Extensive menu, reasonably priced and great tasting food. The plain taco didn’t look too impressive but the meat had a lot of flavor.

What dish did you eat?

This place is grosely underrated! Prior to having my first Jennifer Taqueria experience I would frequently visit either Los Altos Taqueria, La Babmba, or la Costena. This place easily beats the other burrito places!!

Menudo, Fried Yuca, Plantain Empanadas

Laura liked the menudo (they were out of sopa de pata for the day.) The fried yuca was good, but had crunchy fried anchovies on it (I'm vegetarian.) The plaintain empanads were good, but we were expecting a different version of the dish.
