Rather large family-style pizzeria with a large menu and a game room.

Tony & Albas Pizza and Pasta is finally a pizza place I can go to on a regular basis for lunch. We found this place on accident while on a JaTbar burrito outing. Located off of El Camino tucked away in a old strip mall. Tony & Albas is quite large and looks like it occupies 2-3 separate spaces which would explain why they have 2-3 front doors.

We didn't actually eat there but had to get it to go. Terry got the 8" cheese while I got the 10" Tony Special. With a short 10 minute drive back the pizza was still warm with a firm crust. I guess it's a New York style pizza but the crust wasn't exactly thin. The real test me for me in liking the crust; if I don't eat it all, I really didn't like it. That was not the case for Tony & Albas, there crust was not soggy and had some sort of wheat mix in it. The sauce wasn't overwhelming with the right mix of cheese and ingrediants. The sausage and linguica was awesome...added so much flavor to the pizza.

Give Tony & Alba Pizza and Pasta place a try, you wont be disappointed.

The muscle cars of yesteryear had an exhilarating feel to them. They were loud, shook the earth, and when you floored it, they went VERY fast. Or at least they SEEMED like they went very fast. The sports cars of today are quieter, better built, and FASTER, seemingly without trying. I consider Tony & Albas to be in the 'todays sports car' class: Top notch ingredients, made with care, and just damn good. Nothing in particular stands out as being good with the pizza (thats because EVERYTHING in it is good).

This place reminds me quite a bit of a Mountain Mike's except the pizza tastes better. (I ordered the cheese pizza BTW) Haven't figured out what type of crust it is (wheat?) but its very fresh and tasty. The sauce is not the best, but its fresh and passable. The cheese is magnificent. They don't give you a whole lot (a'la Costco) but its not greasy at all and very high quality. The pizza bread is firm so you can hold the slice and it retains its rigor and doesn't flop down (this can be good or bad). In this case, its good.

You won't mistake this pizza for true NY style, but its a damn good pizza. Can't say its a particularly good bargain as my personal pizza cost $7.25. This seems rather expensive for an 8" cheese pizza. If this was down to $5, my rating would have jumped another half-point to a point.

Last night I had a hankering for pizza. In an effort to keep pace with some of JaTbar's star agents, I looked up a pizza place in Mountain View to try. I decided on Tony and Alba's.

I liked the atmosphere of this place. There are several different rooms of tables and lots of sports photos on the wall. It just looks very local and family owned and I always prefer that to generic chains.

It was a little confusing to figure out what to order. There were menu items in lots of places and no prices posted. We decided on the Alba's spinach pizza. While we waited at our table, we were served a basket of bread. I later discovered it's the same bread as is used in the crust, and that was a nice treat during the wait. The servers were friendly and our pizza was promptly brought to our table.

It was good. Not great, but definitely pizza I wouldn't hesitate to eat again. I liked the crust a lot - it was the highlight of the pizza. Thin, not greasy, and has some seasoning in it that gave it a nice touch. Maybe it was our choice of toppings (I usually opt for some meat), but the pizza was a little bit bland. Next time I go back, I'll try a different pizza. However, the prices, localness, and cuteness of this place definitely have earned it a spot on my list of good places in Mountain View.

I have to return from my jatbar retirement just to post a dissenting opinion on this one, such is my dismay. Let's get to the pizza particulars:

Sauce: Don't remember there being much.
Cheese: Waaaaaaaaaay too much. It has a quality, smoky flavor, but sheesh, that doesn't mean I want 2 cups of it in my mouth at once.
Crust: Dry, tasteless. Seems like they tried to do something special with wheat flour or something. It didn't work.
Toppings: Toppings are toppings. The olives were fine.

This seemed like a pretty amatuer attempt at pizza to me. Perhaps this one pizza (we had delivered) was a fluke, but a fluke would have one or two things wrong with it. This one gave me no reason to ever go back.
