Tsunami Sushi is a new sushi place thats opened in downtown Mountain View. If it wasnt for the grand opening sign, Id be writing an Indian food review right now. We walk in and to the left side is a plasma screen playing Finding Nemo...hmmm..how weird is that? Odd humor but it was amusing.

The restaurant is decorated nice with ambient lighting. Waitresses are very helpful and we ordered fairly quickly. We only ordered 1 raw roll and rest were cooked. I wasnt impressed with any of the rolls. They appeared to have way too much rice on it and the sugar-vinegar mix was off. It had a funny taste...I cant pin exactly what is was but it didnt taste right.

There were 3 highlights to the lunch

1. Chicken Karaage
2. Fish is chilled (a bit cooler than normal)
3. Wasabi...wwooooowwwweeee. That stuff sneaks up on you.

Overall, this place is average. I might come back but not in the near future.

We saw a Grand Opening sign on Castro so had to put up a review! We walk in and the place is really nice. Very trendy. Quite befitting of the Castro. Found a table and scanned the menu. A bit on the high side for sushi but on par for Castro street and we've paid high prices for good sushi in the past. If this place delivers it should be worth it.

I go for my standard order of California rolls. Jason and Michael order a number of other items off the menu which I sample as well. First off, my main stickler is the California Rolls. How were they here? The crab was a bit stale and tasteless much to my dismay. I put some wasabi on there to liven it up and nearly burned my nose off! This wasabi is the real deal - and then some! If I was judging for Wasabi, this place would be a 9.5 or 10. Amazing wasabi here.

The stand-out roll here was something Jason ordered. The Halibut Tempura Roll. If it wasn't for this roll, I would probably be knocking off a full point. I could go back here just for an order of this.

It was the grand opening of Tsunami Sushi.

Terry, Jason, and I decided to try it out. The place was nicely decorated inside. The only thing that seem kind a weird was that they were showing Finding Nemo on a plasma TV on the wall. I guess it was supposed to be a joke. Anyway I ordered the tempura halibut roll, California roll, and Spider roll. The only one that I really like was the Halibut roll, the fish as very fresh tasting in it. I was a bit disappointed in the Spider roll as the crab the put in it was way to small. On top of that the prices were too high for a lunch crowd. I would think at a grand opening that you would see some specials?...nope not one. All in all I give them a 7.
