I don't think Terry was too keen on the idea of eating Indian food today. It wasn't until we hit the rundown parking lot that changed his mind. We love the lone restaurant that sits in shopping centers with the cracked pavement and peeling paint. Bonus points for adjacent stores with covered windows.

Deedee's restaurant is a buffet and chaat indian food. Sharing the restaurant space is a small market and video store. Today was mildly busy with half the tables filled. You can order specialty items off the menu but most of the people stick with the $8 buffet. The placement of the buffet could be better as it's wedged into a corner for a 405-like traffic jam.

The buffet hosts 12 or so vegetarian items. There's no roti or naan as you have to order that off the menu, quite the downer. They did have carb alternatives like the onion ringed fried dough and pita thingy. Sambar, palak paneer, Chana Masala were all good but the winning dish of the buffet had to be the spicy mixed vegetables(carrots, lentils, cauliflower, and onions).

After 2 plates of food I was stuffed. I didn't even have enough room for dessert. It should be noted they carry one of our favorite ice creams from Real Ice Cream. Overall, Deedee's serves authentic Indian and the price isn't too bad. I just wished they would had a larger selection and offer free naan or roti.

We have driven by this place numerous times, and always got a good laugh at the rundown strip mall from decades long forgotten. Today was different though. Today we were turning into the parking lot.

We walked up the entrance, a little trepidation in our steps. 'its not too late to go back' etc. This place looks *run down*. We enter and find it surprisingly comfortable inside, and quite clean for the type of place it is. The right side is dominated by a kitchen staffed by 2 or 3 older women, who could be mothers or grandmothers in this place that has a family or friend feel to it. Walking into here was like visiting a friends house who was having a party. Just grab a styrofoam plate and help yourself to the trays of food. I liked the vibe.

There was a decent selection, nothing mindblowing, but enough to keep me filling up my plate twice. Everything was veggie, which of course appealed to me. No naan was present, which was a bummer, but there were a few other baked goods that made good substitutes today.

I won't embarrass myself by trying to remember all of the things I tried, but it was safe to say that I enjoyed it all. Nothing was overly greasy at all, and everything was flavorful. Price was a tad high (especially considering the location!) but the quality made it worth it indeed. I was not in the mood for indian food today at all, yet relented to Jason. And afterwards I was very happy about it.

1st couple of plates going down where pretty good (though could have benefited from a couple of lagers). About 1 hour later driving around town, I started to get strong gas pressures & had to stop at a Starbucks to destroy the bathroom. Good Overall.
