This place was a wishlist request from my parents. They visit this place a lot when they are on the boat. It was an easy place to see off the freeway, and this morning we happened to be driving by, so stopped in to give it a try.

It wasn't too crowded today, but you could tell a lot of the people were boaters, by the thin windbreakers and the suntans. Buttercup serves breakfast all day, as well as offering other diner staples - and a bar. Probably a good all-around type of place for the sailor on dry land.

This morning we were anxious to try the breakfast. By the sheer amount of breakfast items, you could tell this place specialized in the most important meal of the day.

I went with the Sante Fe skillet, since it was something I never ordered in a restaurant before. My wife went with the cajun omelette. We both opted for the cornbread to go with the meal.

Food service wasn't superfast, but wasn't too slow either. Our food arrived, and mine especially looked tempting. The closest thing I could equate it to is a dish the Apple Caffe Macs serves in the morning called Crazy Potatoes. Its just a mixture of potatoes, eggs, and various vegetables and/or meats. Mine was all veggie and was a bit spicier than the Crazy Potatoes what with all the peppers in it. It was VERY filling - huge - and fresh tasting. I would not hesitate to order this again. I may have to make the trip out to Oakland just for this. I had poured the salsa into the mix as well and it got a bit too runny - I think I would opt against putting the salsa into it. The Sante Fe also includes guacamole and sour cream. It made the dish extra rich. Just thinking about it again is making me hungry. Its a massive amount of food, and so messy and mixed-up its just . . . . . Crazy. lol.

The wife enjoyed the Cajun omelette and said it was really spicy. The cornbread was the letdown. It was big, but obviously not fresh. It was a bit dry and stale tasting. I would not order it again unless I knew it would be fresh.

Prices were a bit high, but for the amount of food you get, seems entirely in line with expectations. Place was clean and service was attentive.
