Fentons Creamery was quite the trek this afternoon but was worth all the effort. Not really known for their lunch and dinner items but their ice cream creations. This place gets packed on the weekend so prepare to wait some time for a table.

For lunch, I ordered the Fentons burger and shared a half order of french fries and onions rings.

burger - their burgers were good but a little on the small side. They need to offer a double cheeseburger. I bet they make them small on purpose so you have room for their desserts. Beef was cooked over an open flame and veggies were fresh.

fries - excellent

onion rings - awesome...even better when dipped in ranch

Their food rates in about a 8.5 or so but the desserts are 9.5-10. Omg...I would drive out this far just for the ice cream. They have huge servings and the ice cream is superb. OOooHhhh...you have to see the banana split (last picture in the gallery)! Its huge, this should be shared by 4 people. If you like ice cream, you will like Fentons.

Fentons was a wishlist request as well as personally recommended to me via word of mouth. We went here for lunch and ice cream. I ordered the Famous Crab Salad sandwich. At $13 it was steep, but it was the best crab sandwich I've had. I had the $10 one at Emil Villas Hickory Pit, and this one was definitely a cut above. It was fairly small though, so the french fries and onion ring order came in handy. The onion rings were just OK, however the fries were tremendous. Definitely try their fries.

For ice cream, I decided to go big and got the 3-scoop Banana Split (another famous item of theirs). At $10, it was probably the largest one I have had. The 3 scoops were chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry, accompanied by pineapple sauce, strawberry sauce, and hot fudge. And of course whip cream and 2 slices of banana. I opted for the standard size but should have gone for the Junior Size. I had to go large though. Don't know when I'll return. How was it? Amazing. The ice creams, particularly the vanilla were VERY rich and tasty. The hot fudge and pineapple were great, with the hot fudge really standing out. Next time I will go for a hot fudge vanilla sundae and be in heaven I think.

Give Fentons a try, but be doubly careful with the directions as they can be very difficult to find.

RETURN VISIT for Terry! 11/7/2004 - 9.5 Rating: Made a return visit. Ordered the Fish n Chips entree there. I must say its pretty good. I think at $10 it was a better value than the Crab Sandwich. I would highly recommend it. The tartar sauce was good, the fish was crispy and not too greasy. The fries again were real good.

For dessert (heh heh, thats why I am here!) I went with the large 2 scoop sundae (vanilla ice cream and hot fudge). Absolute heaven. There is no better sundae on Earth and no better place to eat that sundae.

I hope I dont offend people out there but I think Fentons is just okay. With all the homemade ice cream places in the Bay Area, I have a hard time distinguishing what makes each one so great.

I had a small sundae ($4.95) with a scoop of swiss milk chocolate ice cream with jersey whip (malt whipped cream). My friend mistakenly got mint ice cream with strawberry syrup. Isnt that the most disgusting combination? Because it sure tasted like it! However, my ice cream was fairly smooth in texture and the milk chocolate pieces were small, shaved pieces which is easier to eat than small rectangular milk chocolate pieces. The jersey whip was light and airy—it would go very well with a rich ice cream.

Ice cream is served in enormous helpings which make it ideal to share if youre not looking to overly indulge. For some reason, the hot food looks more appealing at ice cream parlors than the actual ice cream so Im going to go for that next time.

Ive been to this place a total of three times and every time, service is slow even when the restaurant is not packed.

After a dinner at Sushi House, my family and I went to Fenton's for dessert. Normally, I don't like creamy ice cream like dreyers. I like the breyer's type of ice cream where it's not too coat-your-mouth creamy. Fenton's is definitely CREEEAMY (surprisingly, I liked it). I guess what makes it special are the flavors. My sister and I split a pistachio and apple pie ice cream with caramel sauce. For sure the apple pie and caramel were the winners. The apple pie flavor was vanilla ice cream with actual graham cracker crust and frozen apples. The caramel sauce was beyond heavenly... I just don't know how to describe it. The way they let the sauce ooze all over the glass and plate makes it irresistable.

My cousin's petite order of chocolate ice cream came out before everyone elses and I was surprised at how big a 'petite' was. My order was a regular and I was worried my sister and I wouldn't be able to finish it. Well.. we had no problem finishing it! It was so good! My uncle and his pregnant wife ordered a large sundae and they didn't have too much problem finishing it either, despite its monstrosity.

I think prices are decent considering you can definitely share with another person. I would like to come back and try their actual food items. Definite return for me.
