We were in town for the Sigur Ros concert at the Paramount and needed something quick and cheap to eat. While circling around looking for parking, we stumbled upon Giant Burgers, kinda an older drive up burger stand thats open a lengthy 24 hours a day.

I ordered the cheeseburger with fries and waited a whole 5 minutes. I watched them grill my burger and deep fry the fries. Its good thing they came out hot cuz I was freezing my ass outside. The meat isnt gourmet or Niman Ranch or anything but in the class of greasy burger shack which is perfectly fine by my standards. Im a fan of these burger shack type places and if you were a LA burger whore like myself, you'll be happy at Giant Burgers. The buns were soft, cheese melted, meat was greasy, and lettuce was lush. They were heavy on the mustard and mayo but you can just do the old mayo wipe. Not sure why they call it Giant Burger, it might have been a big burger in the 70s but its only a 1/4 burger.

I have a fondness for places like Giant Burger. Its old-school, no thrills, non-chain, always open, minimal menu (burgers, hot dogs, fries, and shakes), friendly people, reasonable prices, and last but not certainly least is the burger. Dont come here expecting lean meat with asiago cheese on sourdough buns, come here for the blue collar greasy burger that you know you cant resist......Giant Burger.
