So I had Jury Duty today. I needed to find a place that was fairly nearby and was a quick lunch. There was a McDonalds (and I think all the potential jurors went there as the line stretched out the door). I chose to blaze a path, and am I lucky I did.

My first impression of Hyang Won's was of a rundown place that has been there for decades. Its interior was small and spartan. What was there seemed to have been setup YEARS ago. There were a few flies buzzing around. I was shown a table by the gracious host. I needed to clean my silverware. I was a little hesitant in my restaurant choice by now.

I ordered the spicy breaded prawns (#18 on the lunch menu). The meal included spring roll and soup. The soup came quickly followed by the spring roll. I was used to chinese places bringing hot/sour soup so it was a VERY pleasant surprise when the egg soup arrived. It was SOOO good I slurped it up. The spring roll was a bit crispy on the outside (good) and the inside had plenty of tasty vegetables (it wasn't one big greasy springroll that had been sitting for awhile, it tasted good). I was now beginning to think this place was legit.

Then my entree arrived. The rice was fried with egg only, nothing else to ruin it. They gave A LOT too. Same with the prawns. A TON of them. And the sauce was spicy and VERY tasty. I cleaned it up quickly. That is probably one of the best chinese dishes I have ever had. I can't believe I just walked into this place. It was AMAZING. Lunch (with free tea) cost me $7.04 + tip. I left a $10 and will be back.

So at the end of the day I found out I was selected for Jury Duty. Sucks indeed. But the good news is that I'll be returning to Hyang Won soon. :)
