Cafe Brioche is frickin bustling during lunch time. We got there at 12:15 and had a short wait of 10 minutes. They finally seated us down in the tiny table which had Terry leaning against it. We moved the table over a couple of inches and the waiter walked by and moved it back into Terry...how rude is that? That assh*le, I feel like an idiot for tipping 18%. Terry was squashed and knew this was going to affect his rating.

Bread was served and lasted 2 mins on the table...we scarfed it down in no time...good stuff. I ordered the grilled chicken with mozzarella. Tasted like it was sitting for awhile. The focaccia bread was soggy and pesto was kinda cold. Sandwich comes in with an average rating.

Personally I thought the food could have been better for the price but enjoyed the restaurant atmosphere. With a french decor, excellent natural lighting, faded murals on the walls, Cafe Brioche is a beautiful place to remind you of some of the cafes you see in Paris.

Cafe Brioche was always a place I wanted to try. It reminds me of a small French cafe right in downtown Palo Alto. I finally got the opportunity today. My first experience was a Jatbar first for me. A wait for a table at lunchtime. The wait was about 10-15 minutes and the table they showed the 3 of us to was a small table better suited for 2 people. In fact most of the tables were really small here. Cafe Brioche is a place I would recommend parties of 2 go to. Any more than that and you're looking at long waits and cramped eating. The 3 of us were constantly bumping knees and having waiters whisk by around us.

The waiter came out with bread and butter. The butter was very creamy and tasty, the bread soft and tasty but a little small. I'm sure if we asked, they would have brought out more bread, but we didn't and they didn't. The menu consisted mostly of sandwiches with a few entrees. I was brave and ordered the Linguini and Mussel with tomato sauce. It was a hefty $12.

The wait for the food was about average, not too long surprisingly. It was a little uncomfortable waiting however with waiters whisking around us and bumping knees.... My entree arrived and I tasted it. It was VERY seafoody tasting, but wasn't too bad. I found the quality would have been better in a more relaxed setting, but there was nothing mind-blowing about this. I have a feeling I probably ordered the wrong thing. With a menu full of sandwiches, I probably should have ordered a sandwich (there are vegetarian offerings like eggplan sandwiches). The waiters were quick to fill the waters as we drank them up. I would give them another try on a nonbusy time of day.

Bippy ate...

Saturday lunch

Getting in means a wait and some hassel, but it is absoultely worth it. The croque madamme is as good as it gets, their salads are inventive and tasty, and their deserts are inspired. Also try in evenings for the best reasonably priced French food.
