As Terry mentioned, he was in the mood for Chinese food and I remembered Green Elephant Gourmet was suggested by a Francescas bar fly known as John. His email was sent nearly 2 years ago and although it's been a long time for this restaurant request, we finally made it.

The last time we were here was when we reviewed Feng Yuan which was ok food. We were hoping Green Elephant Gourmet would fare much better since there would be an selection of Chinese and Burmese cuisine.

We arrived around lunch to a packed restaurant. The people at Green Elephant Gourmet were running around making sure their customers got seated quickly, waters delivered, and orders taken. Service is top notch.

I'm not too familiar with Burmese cuisine and I'll take a stab that it's a mix of Indian and Chinese flavors rolled into one. Considering it's not often I get to eat Burmese, I tried out the Samusas and Pumpkin Chicken.

Samusa (image 4, $4.95) - described as raviolis filled with curry spices and potatoes. In other words, a deep fried pastry filled with the same stuff you get in a SamOsa. Right out of the fryer and served scalding hot. If you like Samosas, you'll like the Samusa.

Pumpkin Chicken (image 5, $9.95) - stewed chicken breast with a mix of ginger, garlic, tumeric, and pumpkin. I'm eating through this dish and can't help but think I'm eating orange pumpkins. I've had pumpkins before and I don't recall them being sweeter than potatoes. It's an excellent substute for potatoes and I thought the sauce leaned more towards the Indian side of flavors. It's an interesting dish and I find it more pleasant they used large chunks of breast meat as opposed to cheap chicken thighs.

Green Elephant Gourmet does an all around great job of serving its customers as well as providing a gratifying meal. Hopefully when I return, I can tempt myself into trying their Chinese food.

I was in the mood for chinese food today and we were driving around and Jason suggested this place. We had been to this location before and were not very impressed with the previous place. We hoped for a better experience today.

The place is now seriously fixed up - really nice inside. The friendly waitresses working the floor were quick to find us a seat in this moderately crowded lunchtime establishment. Service and quick and efficient - nice. We were getting tired watching the waitresses mill around quickly to all the tables.

We decided to split some samosas and I ordered the kung pao shrimp (a chinese dish - Jason went with a Burmese dish today).

Soup and salad were solid were included in the meal. Salad was a bit minimal but satisfying.

Samosas were a good appetizer. Not sure I would order it again because the main dish arrived so quickly (super quick service here) I'm not sure I needed anything to tide me over for the main dish.

My main dish was tasty, veggies were crunchy and fresh. Shrimp were large and juicy. A nice combination and not terribly spicy but not entirely out of the norm for chinese cuisine. A good solid dish. I went with the fried rice (choice of fried or white) and found myself completely satisfied. I was originally toying with the idea of getting some ice cream next door afterwards, but found myself full and we ended up just going back to work.
