I would have never thought a pricey restaurant could exist in an old strip mall. I took one look at the outside and was thinking...fresh seafood, no way? I was wrong.

It was a late dinner and wasnt sure if they were open. It was nearly empty with only 8 or so other people. The waiter explained it was an oddity that no one was around, must be the Thanksgiving holiday. We were determined try it out since we have this discount card...buy one meal get one free. I wanted to get 2 plates of Filet Mignon and Lobster for $64.95. That would have been the steal of the century...but we chickend out.

For dinner, I ordered a cup of clam chowder and a new york strip steak. I know I should have gotten seafood but every seafood place Ive been to usually serves a nice steak...I saw the keywords...dry-aged and had to get one.

Claw chowder - I havent had chowder this fresh since I was at Half Moon Bay during the summertime. Scotts Seafood chowder is top notch all the way. Plenty of clams and no sand. Wasnt too thick nor runny, just the way I like it. Now for my guilty pleasure, I like adding chowder crackers but there was none in sight...goes to show you expensive restaurants dont offer food in plastic bags for you to eat.

New York Strip - cooked medium, cooked perfectly, so juicy and flavorful. I dont think they put any spices on it, just the natural dry aged meat with a light red wine sauce to go with it. Served with asparagus and red potatoes, sides werent overwhelming, just good enough.

Meals are very expensive at Scotts Seafood with plates running in the ballpark of 25-40 a plate not including drinks. But you know what they say, you get what you pay for. It showed with excellent service along and their delectable dishes. And yes, I was able to try some of their seafood, I had 1 of their giant scallops and wow, it is cooked flawlessly. It was tender to the point of almost being sushi...seriously. Most restaurants usually overcook their seafood but Scotts does it right. Scallops turn very rubbery if cooked too long and this one broke apart easily. Kudos to a good job. I want to make a return visit to hit them up for the Filet Mignon and Lobster...I just hope I can get that $65 discount. If you are in Palo Alto, dont miss out on fresh seafood and dry aged steaks at Scotts Seafood.
