Its quite the trek to find El Taco de Oro. A taco truck hidden off a sidestreet near an empty field. The experience of ordering from a truck, walking over to the adjacent baseball diamond, sitting on worn bleachers while devouring our tacos was enjoyable....brings me back to the good ol days where slinging dice behind home plate while pouring out the Old E for my dead homiez..im kidding :p

A lot of techies frequent the spot often and I dont blame them for going...$1 for tasty tacos...great bargain..I ordered 4 and my stomach was happy.

Al Pastor - bbq marinade, tangy and spicey

Carnitas - tender, some were crispy some were not. Out of the 3 meats, I liked this one the most. Glad I got 2 of them

Carne Asada - steak was cut very small leaving them a dry

Cabeza - this was strange. meat was extremely tender and it tasted like canned corned beef. The weirdest part was the after taste...omg, its hard to explain, I dont know if I liked it or not.

Tortillas - 2 tortillas per taco, brownish yellow color, legit stuff, you usually cant buy this stuff in the markets. Love it...

Although the tacos were above average, the real treat is finding this taco truck and eating it at the park. Its not often for me to eat outside on park bleachers. $1 price tag is priceless...tacos are golden...El Taco de Oro is great.

If you want to find this place, dont use the address above, thats their Redwood City restaurant location. Use these directions to hit the Taco Truck

From West 237, exit Great America Parkway, make a left and follow alongside of the 237.
Turn left on Gold Street
Turn right at first stop sign onto N. Taylor St. (which becomes N. First St.)
Turn left on Grand
Turn right on Wilson (taco truck will be in vacant lot on left side)

From East 237, exit Great America Parkway make a right and follow alongside of 237
Use same direction from above

Its always interesting to find unique places. Sometimes a unique place could be a taco truck in the middle of nowhere (seriously). We drive up and there are a ton of people milling around. Its probably the $1 tacos and $3 burritos that draw them.

I went with a $1 taco and a $3 burrito (both veggie). The taco didnt impress me very much as Im not into the corn tortilla messiness that it entails. If I am getting a taco I want it rolled up for easy handling.

The burrito was very basic (no cheese, sour cream, guac) but what was there was decent enough (mostly just beans and rice). I ordered both spicy and they definitely were spicy, I was impressed. Probably equivalent to the University Chicken Traditional Death. Not bad.

Would I go back? Definitely for the experience, but the food was just a bit above par in my opinion, and a great value. Keep in mind this is for non-meat items.

I would also pay to see Eddie eat the Beef Tongue there again. :)

Not a place that I would have stopped by to eat to say the least, that doesnt mean its bad in any way - Its a food truck for crying out loud. Anyway, I ordered 2 pork tacos and a Cabeza taco. The reason that I ordered the Cabeza is to see what the heck it is, not really to eat it. I have never seen a cheak taco and was wondering what the heck it is. The price is very cheap, for $1 a taco, you cant really complain much. I was glad that I ordered just 2 tacos, the corn tortilla isnt my thing. Guess the meat was okay, if you ask me is there anything special about the taco, I have to tell you its the spicy sauce.

No love for the taco and no love for the location either. Wont come back.

Carnitas + Pollo (Alviso Taco Truck)

They raised their prices to $1.25/taco, but it's still more enjoyalbe b/c of the experience of sitting outside in the sun, listening to the birds chirp, being away from WORK. Tacos are decent, but you have to get at least 4 to make a lunch.
