I wonder if beef ribs get any better than the ones I had tonight. I stopped by Jimmy's Rib Shack in San Bruno. Its a small bbq shack with vinyl table covers probably protecting the fine linens from the fine tasting brown ooze. I initially wanted the brisket but they were completely sold out!!! Sigh...it ended up being a blessing in disguise. I ordered the beef rib dinner with 2 sides.

corn - wasnt sweet, too watery, hmmm..Im not too fond of this.

beans - good stuff, had bits of chicken in it, beans were firm.

beef ribs - 4 ribs and excellent amounts of meat. Ive been to many other places and they usually give small ribs with little or no meat. Jimmy's are the best ribs IVE HAD ANYWHERE. I think they might have messed up my order because the ribs tasted like PRIME RIB. Im not kidding...I only put the bbq on half of the ribs cuz it tasted so damm good by itself. Its almost like the meat on the outer edge of Rib Eye...you know that section thats marbled and filled with the most flavor. Thats the part I was eating off the ribs!!! EXCELLENT all the way.

The sauce is one of the best Ive had. I opted for the smokey flavor and enjoy every last drop of it. I'll have to come back for 2 visits. One for the brisket and the other for the beef ribs. Its hard to believe that ribs can taste like this GOOD and not be popular? If you like beef ribs, tonights visit at Jimmy's Rib Shack has landed my top spot for BBQ.

***Return Visit 9/10/05***
I came back for the brisket and walked out ordering the beef ribs and brisket combo. It was a expensive at $20 for meal but it must have weighed 3 lbs so its all good. With the combo comes corn muffins, beans, beef ribs, and brisket.

corn muffin - its ok but I would love to see cornbread with corn kernals inside :)

beans - I dont know what they did to the beans but they are much better than my last visit. I said they had chicken bits on the last visit but I think they are using beef? The consistency was thicker, more herbs, and beans were softer this time.

beef ribs - same as last visit....awesome. So much meat on the ribs and I think Im addicted to the smokey bbq sauce.

brisket - moist, tender, kinda surprised it didnt have a smokey taste to it. I would rate it in the 8s but when you add the sauce, it jumps to a 9. This would taste excellent in a sandwich.

Jimmys Rib Shack holds strong as their beef ribs are my bay area favorite. I still need to check out their pork ribs, baby back ribs, and the chicken. I guess that means I'll have to make more visits to my current favorite bbq shack.

I drove by the other day and noticed the building was painted a bright orange paint to resemble flames. I think they have changed owners and the place has changed to The Old Rib Shack? I haven't had a chance to try their ribs and can only hope they live up to Jimmy's.

One of the readers has mentioned Jimmy's is still open and undergone a name change. Jimmy is still there so it looks like I'll be making a return visit to make sure.

Jimmy's is no longer around. It's under new ownership and called the Rib Shack. The menu still serves many of the items from Jimmy's menu. I should have a new listing and review posted in the near future.

RIbs and Beef Short Ribs

This place rocks, the new owners have revamped the menu. The cornbread is so moist and has chunks of pineapple - almost like cake, it is soooo good! The meat is tender, even better than Memphis Minnie's in SF! Highly reccommend revisiting!
