It was a day trip to Mission Dolores today. After a brief visit, my son and I walked around the neighborhood and ended up making our way over to Katz Bagels for a light lunch. On the way back to the car we parked near the Mission, we stumbled upon Bi-Rite Creamery. The place looked fairly new and modern in appearance. There were not a HUGE amount of flavors available, but still an impressive selection. I had a hard time choosing. My son didn't: chocolate. I ended up settling with the Butter Pecan in a single scoop cup. At the register, I was swayed by the delicious looking Macaroons they had so added one of those as well.

I was happy to see the sign proclaiming their ice cream cups being completely biodegradable, and able to be turned into mulch (the green recycle bin). NICE. Nothing like guilt-free disposal after a not-so-guilt-free rich ice cream experience.

The ice cream was indeed rich and flavorful. Ultra fresh ice cream that had an honest flavor and melted in the mouth with ease. The macaroon was a bit tougher on the outside, and soft and chewy on the inside. And 100% rich tasting. I would admit that it was a bit on the small side, but that was probably for the better after I ate the ice cream as well. Bi-Rite Creamery is am must visit if you are stopping by Mission Delores (really, just around the corner), or you happen to be in the area.
