It was a Sunday night (labor day long weekend) so it took us about 15 minutes of waiting before getting a table. But that OK because we just popped into some nearby shops while we were waiting.

When we got seated inside, the first thing that struck me was how small the place is. Not complaining, but its amazing how they can fit so many people in here.

I ordered the crab chowder. I was a little disappointed that it had a LOT of bacon in it. Upon ordering, the waitress was kind enough to mention that it did contain a little bacon. A _little_ bacon turns into like 3 pieces in every spoon. So I didn't finish this. It tasted just OK anyway. I would not recommend this.

I decided to order the thing they are famous for. I got the half order of Crab and the double order of shrimp. The table next to us got the full crab and that looked very intimidating. It was just a full crab sitting there on the plate. Unless you REALLY want to dig into a crab, I would hold off on the full crab. It looks pretty hardcore.

I had to let it sit for a few minutes since it was soo hot. (comes out on a skillet still steaming). They supplied me with a plastic bib which I was a little hesitant on but put it on anyway. What the heck. I started to pick at it and then it hit me. You REALLY gotta dig in to these things. There's no halfway eating these things. So I got my hands dirty. The crab was pretty good. l don't consider myself a connoiseur of these things, but it was among the best I've had. Its just a lot of work to get at the meat. I MUCH prefered the shrimp which still tasted every bit as flavored as the crab but much easier to get at. They still had the legsshells on so had to peel those off. I became really good at doing this about half through the shrimp. The garlic butter they supply you with is VERY good, especially at the bottom of the cup, so be sure you really scoop it on. haha. The combination of the salt and butter and garlic with the smoked grilled flavor truly is unique and something to be experienced if you are at Pier 39.
