My photo gallery 		I was in the city today with my oldest son, Patrick, to do some research at Mission Dolores for a 4th grade project. We finished up a bit early this morning and walked around looking for a suitable place to eat. We passed many thai and sushi places but alas these would not do for a 4th grader, but the big bagel shooting out of the side of the building drew our attention from quite aways down the block. We scanned the menu, the stuff here looked good - but were foiled by a lack of cash. Sadly they only accept cash. Luckily a few doors down (on the next block) was an ATM at the market. A few minutes later, we were standing in Katz once again. It was 11am on a Saturday and this place was packed. Half of the people were getting a breakfast bagel, and the other half a lunch bagel sandwich (like us).

At about 4 or 5 bucks, the bagel sandwiches here weren't overly pricey. My son went with the turkey sandwich with nothing on it, and I with the cheese (with everything on it). It took quite awhile for the sandwiches to arrive. The place was packed, and luckily we were able to score some chairs by the entrance.

The sandwiches went over well. The bagel bread was fantastic. Obviously freshly baked, and still warm. The ingredients inside were all fresh tasting and delicious. I finished it quickly. Since I wasn't too hungry it actually filled me up just right today. My son also enjoyed his turkey sandwich. Its rare he finishes sandwiches, and this time he had no trouble polishing it off.

Overall I would say that the portion size is smaller than Bagel Street Cafe, the ingredients are about equivalent, but the bagels were much fresher and tastier at Katz.

For some dessert, we walked a few blocks over to Bi-Rite Creamery.
