I was in town for Macworld and had been wanting to eat at Mo's Gourmet Hamburgers for a long time. North Beach and parking is never a good combo but I landed a spot 1 block away. It was a 30 minute parking meter so I had to eat fast. I walked in and immediately noticed this big spinning steel grill over an open fire...I'm already sold on this burger and haven't even tried it. I sat at the counter and ordered medium cooked cheeseburger with fries.

My waitress was super friendly and could tell she was going to help me beat this 30 minute time limit. One the walls, I'm facing pictures of the 3 Stooges which I'm guessing this place is named after. Along with the stooges are these giant paintings of cows? Kinda odd to have pictures of happy cows while you're eating them.

The burger is served open face with a slice of tomato, slice of red onion, 1 leaf of green, and a mountain of shoestring fries. The buns are french bread style and most likely specially made because I've never seen these in any market. A giant dinner roll comes to mind. Fries were awesome and can be shared with two people. I ordered the meat medium and they came out medium rare. The menu does warn you about how they cook their meat. If you're faint at heart for pink meat, order medium well or well. The meat is the best part of the entire meal, charred from the flames, light on the seasonings, good thickness, and excellent flavor. High quality meat...enough said.

Parking will always be a pain in the ass but there's a parking structure on Green street. If you want to play it safe, take a bus or taxi. If you can get past the parking problem, Mo's Gourmet Hamburgers is an exceptional piece of work. My meal cost about $10 and worth every penny. The meat is flavorful and other ingredients are equally matched. Mo's makes it into my favorites list for burgers in the bay area, it's THAT GOOD.
