Park Chow has been on my list for some time now and finally got a chance to make a late dinner run on Thursday. I figured since it was a weeknight, it wouldnt be too busy....wwrrrooonngg. This place was packed to capacity but luckily service was fast and people were in and out. Park Chow looks like a gigantic house that was converted to a cool low key restaurant. With outdoor seating, a long bar, fireplace, wooden deck with what appears to look like a retractable roof, this place is comfortable. Noise level might be a problem if you're looking for a quiet dinner. We arrrived around 8:30 and this place was still hopping. Park Chow employs a lot of people and service was quite fast considering how many people were under the roof.

The menu has just about everything for somebody to order from pasta to burgers from fish to steak, a dish for even the pickiest of eaters. I had my heart set on the pork chops before the waitress tempted me with the grilled halibut. I ordered a tall beer and waited patiently.

I'd say 10-15 minutes passed and my halibut was promptly delivered.

halibut - criss cut grill marks, lightly seasoned, cooked to perfection, no fishy taste, melted in my mouth. Outstanding.

mashed potatoes - this also melted in my mouth, no complaints here, good to go

veggies - sweet yellow corn, giant peas, red peppers, barely cooked almost raw, super firm, extremely fresh, had a nice snap to it

Im impressed with the entire dining experience at Park Chow and cant wait to make a return visit. Food was excellent and prices were very reasonable. Parking can be tough sometimes but when you compare it to Mission or North Beach, its a walk in the park. I parked on 14th which is a short 5 block walk. Park Chow is another restaurant to be added to my personal list when friends are visiting, its cheap for dinner, fast, great selection, casual atmosphere, and the food makes my stomach happy.

I agree with Jason on all of his points - Park Chow offers a great selection of American cuisine at affordable prices!

Being a South Bay resident, its rare that I ever drive up to the city to just have dinner - and when I do, its usually a place that Ive always gone to. So, when a friend suggested Park Chow, I figured why not? - be forewarned though that this place is packed even as late as 9PM on Fridays.

Aside from not being able to find parking, I was pleasantly surprised to have Park Chow exceed my expectations. I ordered the pork chop (single - more Weight Watchers friendly :) - you can order two though for a couple extra bucks!), which came on a bed of spinach sauteed with bacon (how can you go wrong with bacon? :)) and a side of fried polenta (dee-lish!).

I split the warm chocolate cake a la mode with a friend and it was perfect...the consistency of the cake wasnt too airy and wasnt too dense...like I said, it was perfect!

Our waiter was very friendly and we had a great seat under the canopy section of the restaurant in the front underneath the heat lamp. This is a great place to hang out with friends and catch up over a good meal...

Definitely give this place a shot if youre ever in the inner Sunset District! Oh, its also fun to watch people try to get out through the heavy overlapping curtains used as doors to keep the cold out :)

This place is not as good as it used to be when they first opened, but it's still a good reliable place to get a good cozy meal. It's hard to find a restaurant that's casual and inexpensive, yet serves great quality food in a great atmosphere. The meat dishes are great and so are the pastas. But you HAVE to save room for their apple pie. It's some of the best in the Bay Area. The biggest drawbacks are the parking and the fact they don't take reservations, which means REALLY long waits during peak times/days.
